[Freebies] Winner Announced! AMD Sponsored HTPC RIG!!! & Audio Goodies! A10-7850K, 8gb DDR3, Custom Case, Yamaha Receiver! - Page 9

Oh man would I love a new HTPC rig. Im currently in the process of upgrading my system actually. HT stuff is just so expensive though.
Current Setup
Custom Build HTPC Using Intel Pentium G620 w/ Intel HD Graphics
Reciever: Yamaha 673
Speakers: Polk Audio Monitor 60's, CS20 Center, Monitor 30's rear
Sub: Polk Audio DSW660wi
TV: 55 in Samsung Smart TV

Im going to purchase a 65 in TV and move the living room one to our bedroom. Receiver will be upgraded to a Yamaha 775 or Aventage 830 so I can get some pre-outs. I need pre outs so I can put on an Emotiva amp for the LCR speakers. Sub will probably be my first upgrade purchase and will be a SVS PB 13-Ultra. Thats several thousand dollars worth of equipment though so Ill be upgrading one component at a time.

I use the HTPC all the time for streaming movies from my personal home server (about 14TB of HDDs) or when people come over to the house we use it to watch youtube, videos, browse ect. Ive had to swap out the PC to play some League of Legends on there when friends come over for some gaming since the integrated graphics cant really hang.

By far the most disappointing part of my setup is the HTPC. I made a terrible mistake going with an Intel build. I was on the fence to buy a FM1 or 2 socket from AMD and ended up with the intel build. Intel HD graphics on the G620 is awful for watching streaming movies on. The screen tears like crazy. The solution has been to buy more expensive processor with Intel HD2000 or 4000 graphics but those have the frame rate issue for movie playback, or a dedicated graphics card. I;ve just put it off and not solved the problem for a long time now. An AMD build would sure solve my problem though biggrin.gif

ps: OH MY GOOD GOD THESE PICTURES HAVE MADE ME DECIDE TO STOP WHAT IM DOING AND DUST OUT MY CABINET IMMEDIATELY.

This is perfect! I'm moving to vancouver fairly soon (within the next year) and I'm 99% sure my massive beast-tower wont fit wherever I end up living for the first while (probably at my uncle's house), so this would make me happy!
I'm so past in!

After some thought I'd like to apply for this giveaway.

I do not currently have an HTPC. My main rig spends much of the time idling in my office or working spreadsheets. It cannot be used as a focal point for gatherings as it is a computer and not an entertainment piece.

I have always wanted to setup a really great HTPC to entertain my family. We are actually downsizing our living conditions in the next 2 months and having a dedicated media box would do wonders in letting us play music, control the TV, and be able to watch movies with the additional perks an HTPC allows for. Be able to stream media content from system to system, AND give my family their own computer to play around on, and less time on my system (so i can do things).

I also don't own a Blu-Ray and only have a cheapo DVD player, so we can't currently even watch our movies at their highest quality.
Everything about my rig has been purchased over the course of 5 years, slowly, and on a very restricted budget. I don't think I could convince the Wifey to do it all over again, then train train her on how to use it. It would have to be a all in or nothing switch.

Lastly it would let my family and I enjoy some quality gaming time together in the family room in front of 1 TV.
Largely all selfish reasons, but I guess that just comes with want, and giveaways.

Fun to play!

I live with two friends, we're all in our mid to late 20's, have steady jobs and we all have kids (different mothers. Nothing weird!). Us three living together makes living affordable as many young, hard working Brits will relate to. We don't live with our kids but they all come over to stay for the weekend. We usually take them out during the day and when we return we usually play games and watch movies. We currently use a 360 to play things like minecraft with them and stream movies to but it's on it's last legs now and something like this would certainly get put to good use. Great giveaway and thanks for the chance.

WOW! Amazing giveaway.

This would replace my decrepit HP dv5150 HTPC I got out of surplus from the county school system i worked for for a few years. It has a lovely 3GHZ single core Athlon 64 and 1.75 GB RAM with a 8400GS and 80GB hard drive thumb.gif

Oh, did I mention that it's IDE? Yup, sadly it is, plus I cannot get the data stream in XBMC to be stable enough to stream from my Openbox server. frown.gif

In,
I just moved into a new house just a few months ago and have been slowly furnishing it and have a TV and use my laptop to watch netflix but it would be just nicer to have a HTPC sitting by my TV instead of constantly getting my laptop out and plugging it in just to watch netflix.

Reasons I would want this is because I don't really have a powerful system and nothing is limiting me from going small for a main PC/HTPC.

And despite having a Smart TV you cant really do much on it.

Does this seem logical?

Absolutely would love to do a bunch of custom fabrication and mod the heck out of this thing. We could really use a real HTPC for the living room. The little WDTV Live box is nice enough for watching Netflix, but it falls flat trying to run some of the files over my network from the storage on my main rig. My son could also really use access to a PC of his own. He's 7 and absolutely loves Minecraft. I'd like to run that with the latest awesome looking mods on it. I figure that would totally blow his mind.

I'm part way through building my current rig. It's up and running, but working on small mods and additions as I have time. Rinzler is going to be a killer beast when done.
