Sold my PS4 should I upgrade my newly built PC?

Thread Starter
Hey guys, well as some of you know I recently built a new pc last month with these specs:
Asus Motherboard
FX8350 8 core cpu
XFX double d 280x
8 gb 1600mhz ram
1tb hdd
Antec high current gamer 620 watt psu

Now as I have fallen in love with PC gaming i noticed that my PS4 basically got zero use since gaming. I got to thinking, when will I ever use my PS4? Is it worth the premium to sit there and maybe play 1-2 exclusive games when I could buy 95 percent of all games on my PC at ultra settings and yada yada yada. So, I sold my ps4 for over 500 on ebay.

Now, my eye caught the 290x. Would it be a dumb move (money wise) to sell my 280x for 280 (already have a buyer) and jump on the 290x..
The reason I am thinking this is because now that I don't have a ps4 my only means of gaming will be my PC and I want to be able to futureproof this thing for a long time to be able to play games like the WITCHER 3 on ultra everything maxed out.

I also game on a 1080p monitor.

thanks guys!

if your 280x can overclock into the 1200 core 1600 mem range its gonna be a pretty solid card for 1080p games into the next year of games releases.. however if you have money to burn and want to upgrade I would avoid the 290x and go for the 290... In my opinion the 2-5% increase you get with the 290x is not worth the on average $150 price increase over the 290.. honestly 2-5% increase is like 1-8 fps average max.. and if you get a good overclocking 290 you are gonna be well above what a stock 290x is going to perform like anyways.

Edit: And if witcher 3 is anything like witcher 2 was.. it doesnt matter what video card you have at the games release.. you might need to wait a generation of gpu past game release or have a xfire or sli setup of a 290 or 780 to run it completely maxed out.

I don't recommend it until you NEED it. By the time you need it, something faster will be out. Keep the PS4 for now, they have awesome exclusives.

If the game your concerned about is the witcher 3, keep in mind most of the cool effects like fur and grass will be Nvidia exclusives, so you wont be "maxing" it out with a 290x (yes I am sad about it too).

Keep your card until pirate islands if you need a better card(ex.3 screens/4k) otherwise you are fine and upgrade at 2016(1920x1080)/2015(2560x1440)
