Why can't they use copper/aluminum fin stack array like seen on the X79 WS ?

Probably cost. Single cast-aluminum parts are cheaper than assembling a fin stack.

I'm glad they got rid of the yellow slots/ports. I didn't mind the gold on the heat sinks--X79 Deluxe looked good--but the day-old-urine color of the plastic components bothered me to no end.

Interesting to see a circular design motif, though. And how far does Asus plan on diluting the ROG line? I want an Extreme and a Formula, not a half-assed black-and-red Ranger.

What? That would make it even more ridiculous getting a Haswell since Broadwell would be just around the corner. Though wait a minute, come to think of it, the blackmail works perfectly "now that you know Broadwell is soon, get the board now if you can't wait but small detail, you may have to use a Haswell".

Hrm..

On the other hand, in that case customers may be better off with a cheap Haswell if it's only for a month or two. So.. releasing the cheap Haswells now, might be a logical solution. Why the -K later then? Hrm.. Hard to see an advantage, it's probably a way to have something new to say for the ads.

I think I'll just wait for Broadwell if Devils Canyon is releasing close to it.

Hoping the M7E is both 12x10.6inches E-ATX and uses a rear I/O cover/heat sink like the Rampage 4 Extreme Black Edition.

And both or at least the M7F comes with the vanity cover, crossing fingers. smile.gif

ASUS is going to have tough competition from MSI (for gamer boards) and Gigabyte (for everything else) I suspect.

Pretty nice boards but I think we all would like to see something different for a change.

Real copper like some of the old p-45 boards would be a nice change I think.
