Sudden pc lockup while browsing the web

Thread Starter
Hopefully this is in the right section. Earlier I was browsing the web, a few tabs open and steam running in the background and suddenly the syste, completely locked up. Numlock wouldn't work or anything so I powered it off and the back on again and I haven't had any problems since but what do you think happened? My primary drive is a Sandisk Extreme 120GB and I have a Seagate Barracuda 2TB drive as well, the computer is in my signature. SSD life pro says my SSD is 100% healthy so could it be a power failure?
Thanks.

...unfortunately, there can be several reasons for that - and having a rare lockup is probably not unheard of. I have had the odd lockup / freeze when browsing the web which I attributed to software issues such as Java and Flash, especially when having multiple browser windows open.

While I normally run w/ Firefox, using Google's Chrome browser or even IE eliminated the problem. Now, it may appear as a bit of an in-congruent jump given what I just mentioned re software apps, but later on, I noticed that the fan cooling the RAM wasn't working and when I fixed that, no more issues even w/ Firefox / Java / Flash.

Good luck !
