Gigabyte GT 610 memory mod help

Hey guys, entering a crap card comp and having trouble with a memory mod. I have the vcore one down, but memory is proving difficult. Any ideas? I tried the 8 pin IC with FB being pin 4, but got nothing from it.

appears to be only single phase.. so memory must be powered by simple voltage divider/resistor..perhaps off of core or the 3.3v input 

 

*decent way to start.. is to probe the caps at the memory end of the PCB... see what stock MEMv is at. Then carefully measure around the PCB looking for any spots with the same voltage. 

 

**Dont probe resistors while GPU is powered.. only caps or components marked on PCB with a 'C' nomenclature.

correct.. 

 

'C' = capacitor .. ok for probing under power

'R' = resistor .. things go 'boom' when probed under power

 

*keep black probe on the GPU bracket.. and just use red when poking around..

A lot of the capacitors on the back near the ram are reading 1.54 while ram is at 1.48. Not sure how I can get a reading from the ones on the front with the heatsink.

you say RAM is @ 1.48v.. how are you determining that? 

 

*short fix for better RAM OC - if voltage is already drooping or fluctuating heavily under load.. you can add larger caps to help buffer the current draw and keep the voltage more stable..the larger SMD type caps on the backside of the PCB, at the end near the memory - would be a perfect place to piggy-back some larger electrolytic caps

Here is where I am gettting my read from. Just above that is the vcore point too. I tested the capactior circled and get a read of 1.54v with ram at 1.52 (it fluctuates) Sound right?

sounds good... do all those caps in that area read the same voltage.. or are you seeing two voltages there?

 

*Try reading the outer legs of the mosfets too.. one side is input the other, output..    With that mosfet on the backside.. it could be two phases actually, one single phase for core and mem.. 

 

*Using continuity - which inductor has 'tone' to the cap you measured from?
