PSU fan and GPU fan fighting over the same air? - Page 6

I still believe such an 92mm fan is WAY overkill.

Since cooler master have coolers such as vortex plus and tx3. They are not being sold with a massive thick delta fan. But a standard 25mm 92mm fan. There could be more coolers, I just dont know them.
Heck, even the 100mm fan on this axp-100 muscle, is thinner than a standard 92mm fan.

If the little i5-660 is 70c or 80c under load (delta vs default) so what? Its not going to be overclocked. The cpu itself, generate very little heat.

So with all this, I have already made up my mind. To find a silent 92mm fan, and connect it to an 7volt adapter.
There no need for a delta fan, for this build situation.

i'm with Dave on this... the right tool for the right job smile.gif

Golden Rule(s) for Fans:

CHEAP + SILENT = NO PERFORMANCE
CHEAP + PERFORMANCE = NOT SILENT
SILENT + PERFORMANCE = NOT CHEAP

+Most SILENT Case Fans are not well suited for CPU-HS-Towers or Radiators
+Most SILENT Case Fans are not well suited for cases, especially if they have filters. (added by doyll on 23/04/2014) biggrin.gif

Hmmm...

When I install this asus hd7750-t-1gd5 in my parents pc, the pc freezes up frown.gif

Do you think its due to the psu being too weak? It was an very old oem FSP 350w with 2x +12 rails at 16a each.

maybe... this card needs to suck 75watts throught PCI-E slot ... the MB might not be able to do that (anymore)
whats the MB brand/model?

The FSP PSU : some of these 350 horses might have died from old age smile.gif But still... it should be able to provide enough startup juice
Its easy to test... just try with another "loaner" PSU

see http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp
read the note about PSU aging
Quote:
Electrolytic capacitor aging. When used heavily or over an extended period of time (1+ years) a power supply will slowly lose some of its initial wattage capacity. We recommend you add 10-20% if you plan to keep your PSU for more than 1 year, or 20-30% for 24/7 usage and 1+ years.

Another thing to try detach HD & GPU from MB , reset MB , boot into BOIS search for things like
"PCI first" set to first ,
"PCI latency timer" set to default/auto,
"PCI spread spectrum" set to disabled

Motherboard is an Msi ms-7708. Oem prebuild medion. Its p55.

The psu only has 20 pin. Where the motherboard needs 24 pin.

To top it, the hd7750 is asus's top model with 900mhz on the core. Dunno if that increases the power usage that much extra?

There's an extra 4-pin square socket behind the audio i/o, does it have anything plugged in?

Their pc, only froze once, during a clean install. And i was about to install the chipset driver as the very first thing. Simce then no problems at all. I ran heaven benchhmark 1h and 30min. Followed up by 2h of gaming. And then the pc were idle for the nezt 4h.
And the issue never returned.
And not till this today either.

But about the fan question earlier.

I am almost tempted to say "told ya" to you DaveLT.

Axp-100 muscle with a bequiet silent wings 2 92mm at 5volt = 62c under prime95 after 3 hours

I also said earlier the cpu would not be overclocked, and then an deltafan would be ridiculously overkill. And the cpu were 73w. But you ignored all that.

I had faith in the silent wings 2 fan, and they have never let me down. I have two 92mm on my gtx760 overclocked (running with 700rpm)
And then two of them in the size of 120mm on my haswell cpu (running 500rpm)
