FX 8350 with GA 78LMT USB3 Rev 5.0/ FX 6300 with ASUS M5A78L-M LE

I'm being gifted an FX 8350 and as of now I can't change my motherboard. My concern is that it's a 4+1 vrm pahse mobo (mobo in sig rig).
Is there by any chance that the FX 8350 will run at 4.5Ghz on this mobo? Will I benefit in games going from the FX 6300 to an FX 8350? I do play BF3 and BF4 a lot. I also play all other new game releases.

The next part of my questions was regarding the FX 6300. I will be giving it to a buddy of mine in exchange for his unlocked Athlon IIx 3 into a Phenom II x4. Will either sell that chip or keep it for testing purposes as I do review hardware. He has the ASUS M5A78L-M LE, so will the FX 6300 work well with this mobo? I know that the FX CPU's would throttle if they don't have APM Master in the bios. I'm not sure whether the ASUS M5A78L-M LE has that option or not. How much of an overclock will he be able to get on the ASUS M5A78L-M LE with the FX 6300? He does have a fan blowing directly over the vrms.

Please help me out guys and it would be wonderful if there were people here who actually used the combinations. However, any help will be valued and appreciated thumb.gif

Jason,

You will definitly benefit from a 8 core over a 6 core, you'll see all cores will be used. If you have to, turn off cores, lower volts, i'm sure it can work. Heck, if I could run a 770 gtx on that board, it can handle that chip. Congrats btw on the gifting.

thumb.gif Thanks. My mobo us rated for 125TDP but as we know that rating isn't everything wink.gif
Will the CPU throttle if there isn't any APM option in the bios? This concern is regarding the FX 6300 with the ASUS M5A78L-M LE.

I only read the fx 8350,well If I were you I would keep the fx 6300 at stock and the fx 8350 stocl or if you see any kind of strain in vrms then you should downclock (this could apply to the fx 6300 and its mobo)it to 3.5ghz

That's okay. Will FX CPU's throttle if they don't have the APM Option in the bios?
