How to boot directly to ASUS UEFI / BIOS from Win7 shortcut?

Hi folks,

I have a new system and am constantly rebooting into UEFI/BIOS while I learn how to overclock and tweak it. After the 4000th time I am wondering if there's some tiny app that will let me restart directly into the ASUS UEFI. rolleyes.gif

I am talking about being *in* Windows 7 (on the desktop or whatever) and being able to click an icon or hit a shortcut key, and my system will shutdown and restart, *into UEFI*.

I am NOT talking about DirectKey and NOT talking about holding down Del when the PC starts. Also, not wiring DirectKey to Reset button. I know these other things.

I have tried googling to look for a utility that will do what I want, but only get a thousand articles on the usual methods. Maybe there's a magic word to search on.

Thanks if you can help!

Mike

My system is:

i5-4670K @ 3.4 Ghz w/ Noctua NH-14S air cooler
ASUS Maximus VI Hero w/ latest BIOS (1406). Also, I have installed most of their utilities like AI Suite 3.
32 GB G.Skill TridentX DDR3-2400
Gigabyte 4GB NVidia GTX 770
480 GB Crucial M500 SSD, 4 TB HGST 7200 RPM HDD, LG 16x BDXL Writer
Corsair HX650 PSU
Corsair 750D case (3 fans; unused openings blocked with tape)
Windows 7 Pro 64 bit

Hey Mike,
Take a look on the ASUS download page for your motherboard. You'll see a bunch of software utilities that will allow you to change the settings you'd normally find in the BIOS whilst in Windows. Meaning, you can overclock and overvolt in Windows. There is no way to access the BIOS on demand other than doing it the hard way (DEL key).

This is best you can find..

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/utils/ASUS_BootSetting_Win7-8_8-1_VER10017.zip

So when you want to get into EFI launch that and press Direct to UEFI.

Thanks Error, that helps a lot...

The zip actually has a lot of EXEs in it, so I went to the ASUS website to find out more. Inexplicably, their site locks up when I use Search on it.

So I looked to see if it was on my ASUS motherboard CD and, not only was it there with an explanation PDF, but I realized I'd already installed it - not just to Start bar, but right there on my desktop. lol, gotta love it.

Now if only they made it a stand-alone EXE that actually rebooted to UEFI... so you could just hit a shortcut key combo and reboot.

I can't believe how many times I am rebooting, heh
