Need help planing a new build.

Thread Starter
Not sure how to start. I could use some help but do not want to appear rude and just start asking questions my first day. I have built a few simple systems and want to step into a little more technical area for this build. This is my “first” water-cooled system build so I honestly have little idea what I need.
I have been reading your posts for weeks to get an idea but there is a lot to it (like where to connect temp probes). And so many options for... fittings (I prefer compression, thinking Koolance), coolant (Deionized or Distilled?), tubing (I prefer solid but what size and who's?), and fans or radiators OMG there are a lot of options there lol.

I am currently using a test bench but will be ordering the Case Labs S8 w/Pedestal next week.

I know this is a lot to look through but if you are willing to help I could really use it. I do not “plan” to overclock but I do want to have that option available later. The following I have on hand as well as an extra motherboard, just in case. I am sure I have the patients to do this, but I could use your guidance.

EK_ASUS_Maximus V Extreme Liquid Cooling_Block Nickel
EK Supremacy Universal CPU Liquid Cooling Block - Nickel
EK GeForce 670 GTX DCII VGA Liquid Cooling Block - Nickel
EK GeForce 670 DCII GTX VGA Liquid Cooling RAM Backplate - Black CSQ
EK FC Bridge Dual Parallel 3-Slot CSQ - SLI Connection - Acetal
EK D5 Dual CSQ Pump Top - Acetal
2x Swiftech MCP655 12v Water Pump w/ Speed Control and 3/8" Conversion Kit

any suggestions you may have would be welcome. I have a single loop with redundant pumps in mind but open to suggestions.

Oh, budget... I do not care if it takes a year to get everything, once it is complete I don’t want to need to upgrade the cooling. I expect to be adding 2 more video cards to the loop within the year.

Thanks for looking.

For a coolant, you can either use aftermarket coolant, or distilled water. (Not deinonized, as i learned the hard way XD) Also if you are gonna use straight up distilled water, i recommend getting a silver kill coil, such as this:

Good luck! let me know if you have anymore questions.

the best advice i can give, is read many, many build logs. most of the time, people will record there mistakes as well as successes. that can be really helpful. you'll also draw lots of inspiration from them as well.

as far as tangible advice.....

use rotary fittings , everywhere.....makes fitting tubes waaaaay easier and also lessens the risk of loosening up the fitting on the first end fitting the next....
