Samsung S27D360H: What do we think about this new PLS display???

Just saw this on Amazon while looking for a cheap 27" monitor for a friend of mine's new rig:

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-27-Inch-Viewing-Monitor-S27D360H/dp/B00IEZGY7G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398059610&sr=8-1&keywords=S27D360H

This seems to be an incredible deal to me and I'm wondering why nobody is bringing it up? Its 27", PLS and has a really nice aesthetic to it. Sure its just 1080p but a 27" PLS display for $229 seems incredible to me. Discuss!

Nice price for 27" monitor. Attractive looking to boot. White looks nice although I'd be curious if the white boarder would be distracting in a darkened room or not. Without seeing it in person or reading a bunch of reviews, that's all I can say for now.

I'm wondering the same thing about the 24 inch one for 200 bucks. People say PLS is a lil worse than IPS (at least from what I've read on ocn). I'm not sure, I think PLS can be just as good, especially if it's from samsung.

27" and 1080p yuck looks pretty junky in person if you've ever seen it.

1080p at 27" is fine (my folding rig uses a Sammy P2770FH and it looks fine). Obviously I'd prefer 1440p like my main rig's monitors are but for $225 with a PLS panel something's gotta give. 1080p is a compromise I can make here...

From everything I've read and seen PLS seems to me to be better than IPS actually...

Hmmm, have you seen a 1080p 27'' and 1440p 27'' side by side? If so check your eyes or check your standards, something's gotta give : ).

PLS and IPS is pretty comparable don't worry about it.

Um, yes, I just said that I have both 27" 1440p and 1080p monitors in my possession. Am I overjoyed with 1080p? Of course not, but for the price you can't expect it all. I'd rather have a 1080p PLS panel over a 1440p TN panel, I can tell you that. thumb.gif

PLS is nearly as good as AH-IPS, but it has fallen a bit short in everything but response times in the panels I've had. Gamut, contrast, and uniformity are all not quite as good.

It is nitpicking levels of difference, both are world's better than any TN yuck.

I'm currently reviewing the Samsung S24D390HL which should offer similar performance to the S27D360H. This generation of AD-PLS panels is far superior to what I've seen previously and to be honest compares favourably to the AH-IPS offerings in many respects. It's an excellent monitor - really nice factory setup, strong colours and contrast, no big issues with responsiveness and a flicker free backlight. The colour gamut is comparable to the new 23.8" AH-IPS models on this one and the contrast is superior. And my unit has very good uniformity incidentally (no backlight bleed, good consistent brightness and colour temperature on the whole).

PCM the Samsung S24D390HL are you reviewig have semi glossy coating or hard coating like last AH-IPS ?

When are you think your review will be ready ?
