Too late. It's already become a franchise. And IMO 2015 is waaaay too soon for another title. There's only 7 months left in 2014...

Back in the day, think 20 years ago, it was common to wait 2+ years between major game titles from big franchises. Then again a lot of games had depth and plenty of exploration and replay value, unlike a lot of the ADHD titles we get these days.

Not to mention they had a QA dept back then that knew they had to release a fully functional product cause once it was out, it was out. There wasn't any internet back then to push patches, only snail mail.

It doesn't have to be exactly at the start of 2015, it can be March 2015 for all we know.

That and gamers voted with their wallets and would crucify any developer that shipped garbage. Gamers recognized we controlled the market and decided who lived or died in the market. Developers had legitimate fear of the player base, because they knew they got one shot usually to impress and earn that money.

Man, I remember when Castlevania 64 shipped, the garbage that title was, the amount of backlash received for that mess. The ONLY reason that franchise survived that was because it had the previous titles backing it, and they were pretty much given a "freebie", a one time pass.

Also because a lot of us were still drooling over Symphony of the Night, and just went back to playing it while we gave them another shot.

Only 7 months is long but I hope the delay makes the game bigger and better.

To be young again; when 7 months is considered long.

It could also be be that they're converting to Unreal Engine 4, making enhancements using nvidia Gameworks or it could be possible that they're implementing DX12 features.

I think this is true once the internet became more common. Prior to it (the NES and earlier days) you had no way to know whether a game was good or not unless someone you knew actually owned it or played it. Sure you could likely rent it but even then you likely had no idea what you were getting into until you hit the power button. Oh the games I rented back then only to find out they were crap.

I am also actually glad this it is being delayed. It seems like there are a bunch of great titles coming out this year, and now I don't have to feel obligated to get Arkham Knight this year hehe.

Now I can put major focus and dedication into Dark Souls 2 when it comes out, along with sprinkling in some Titanfall and The Walking Dead (which I FINALLY dove deep into the first season... incredible game).

The only games I purchased without renting had Mario, Link, Samus, Belmonts, Dragon Quest, and Final Fantasy characters in them. If it didn't have any of them in it, I rented it first to test the quality! Then Castlevania 64 came out and crushed that.....

I hate that game so much.

I hate that game so much.

Never played it but no doubt the vast majority Castlevania fans would agree.

As a kid I was always a sucker for trying games that were franchised to something I loved.

I give you exhibit A:

Holy crap! It's the X-Men! Use ALL of their mutant powers you say? Why YES, I'd love to!

Horrible game
