Ok so modular means that things on whatever the item is, are removable/interchangeable. A semi-modular PSU is one where a main bulk of the cords (24-pin, 12-pin, etc) are not removable (you usually use all these cords anyhow), but things like the PCI power, Sata power are. A fully modular PSU you can remove every cord, including 24-pin.

What are your other system specs

Haswell i5 and AMD fx 8-"core" processors have roughly similar multithreaded performance - i5 maybe a bit behind at stock, but not really at OC. They're actually >faster< by a few percent at video encoding, clock for clock, with half as many threads. I don't like playing this down to "when games use more than 6 cores, it will fall behind" because not really, when that happens it'll be about equal with anything you can buy today stock on the market.

You need 4670k to OC. It's maybe not worth shooting for an upper-midrange CPU with weak graphics, at least a ~750ti or equivalent would be appropriate to be paired with before thinking much about it, unless you had specific, CPU demanding cases in mind that don't require such a GPU

Maybe something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116899

It is unlocked, giving overclock potential, and is fairly cheap. Should provide reasonable performance in gaming.

Meh, with what op is pairing it with, the chip he picked will be overkill almost. Now if OP wanted to upgrade the GPU down the line, THEN he would need to get a 4670k. Either that or spend a few extra $$$ and get an E3-1230v3 which you cant overclock but its basically a 4770.
