Fan Suggestions!

Hello Air Coolers..

I have a question... or seven...

First off I am sure this is listed in 200 threads already, so if you know these threads link em as I suck at forum search.

Maybe someone should do a Fan Thread Compilation Sticky! smile.gif

First My Setup!

Case: NZXT Switch 810
CPU: 2600k (Cooled by H60) (Upgrading to H100i)
RAM: 16GB (4x4) 1866 Corsair Vengeance (Thinking about Air Cooling *See Below*)
GPU: New eVGA 2GB ACX GTX 760ti (Reference PCB) (Planning to WC /w Kraken g10)
GPUx2 (Might double up on the 760ti)

I am FAN STUPID - I use to buy my fans from Best Buy on Discount kinda FAN STUPID. So if your wanting to say Get Fan 120xZT /w Ultra Silence DB STATIC Pressure X Super Prop blade rotatory... I wont know *** you mean. Even if thats NOT what you say.. it IS how it will sound.

So feel free to treat me like a child and explain in detail.. I can take it!

Questions.

1. What fans are better in difference situations?
a. Case Fan Push / Pull ?
b. Radiator Fan Push / Pull ?
c. Sizes Matter? Brand A Makes super 120 but Brand B makes THE ONLY 200 YOU SHOULD USE??
d. Can I get Quiet & Good? (Not worried about Cheap)

2. Can I have them fans in WHITE?

3. Does anyone have this case?
a. I will be having at-least a 240 & 120(maybe 2) Radiator, is there a setup you would go?
b. Can I push pull the radiators?
c. Should I?
d. How would you set your fans up?
e. How many do I need?

4. Do they make white memory air coolers?
a. I heard the memory cooler was good for cooling some important part on the MB that was not the RAM
b. Will this ruin my overall case air flow?

There are alot of things I might now even know to ask, so feel free to give all your knowledge.

1)

Normal fans are fine to push and pull air in situations whereby there is little resistance (case fan). Static pressure fans are designed to push air through high resistance environments (radiator fan).

a: Front and Bottom fans should "generally" be push, plus Top and Rear should "generally" be pull, depending on your airflow configuration. You will need fans that are designed to purely move air in an environment which offers low resistance. So for case fans, I'd suggest getting a bunch of Corsair AF 120's/140's for case fans (Check what size fans are supported by your case).

b: You'll need static pressure fans for Radiator. Go with Noctua NF F12's or Corsair SP 120's if you plan to use a Radiator which supports that size. (This is the common size). Push or Pull offer little to no cooling difference. Push/Pull combined do allow better cooling by a couple of degrees.

c: Brand does matter as some are better than others. Size matters depending on what you require. Larger fans can be good for case fans as they can push or pull larger amounts of air.

d: Yeah you can get quiet and good, such as the Noctua series of Fans!

Sorry, can't answer all your questions at this time. Hope the info helps.

There is nothing the matter with asking questions. It's the best way to learn. Much easier and cheaper than 'school of hard knocks'

In my book all fans should be cooler / radiator fans. Reason is case intake vents with filters are easily as restrictive as cooler and radiators. Even exhaust vents are often as restrictive.

Control case fans automatically so they move less air when less cooling is needed and move more when cooling is need.. same as cooler fans do. Links in sig explain PWM control and case cooling.

Normally there is nothing close to RAM that needs extra cooling.

Let me help you about some of the the rad fan setup questions.

There's also the Corsair Hydro Series Club here for more opinions.

If you don't have any concern about the stock fans I would say keep them.
Look at here and here.

The rad benefits most in a "PUSH" configuration and Push/Pull is overkill.
For more details look here.

Maybe @ehume ,@psyclum or @cyclops could give an answer for your doubts

Before the (almigthy) air cooling gurus arrive from their rest you can read this which has basic information about fans

Noctua's fans are very quiet and are high quality, radiator fans need to have high static pressure to push the air through the radiator so the Noctua NF-F12s are good for that, larger fans are better because they can spin slower to move the same amount as air as a smaller fan and therefore be quieter.

Any suggestions on white fans? Are any of NZXT's fans good? Some reviews claim they have loud bearing noise... is this just over critical?

Take a look at Noiseblocker eLoop fans for your radiator.
They are really good and they are white. Bit expensive tough but deffo worth to take a look at.

I have the FZ-140mm wich is the newest line from NZXT.

It's only a 1000 rpm fan but IMO it has a bit loud motor noise at full blast.
I think also the listed airflow seems exagerated.

I'm one of the owners that agreed with you heard about the NZXT fans noise although the NZXT RB series has better reviews then the newest FZ series.

Take a look at the Gelid Silent's.
Their fans are very well rated by Tator Tot here.
