[LATimes] AT&T announces 21 potential markets for ultra-fast Internet service - Page 4

Same. All of the local ISP's in my area are content with milking the current (extremely slow) infrastructure. Nothing will change unless they are forced to do so.

Weird that they're doing SF and SD but not LA.

As someone in SD, I should be happy but I just switched from AT&T to Time Warner. I hate AT&T.

According to AT&T's site.

70$/month for Internet 300, which will upgrade to 1Gbps for free in Austin. I assume this would be the same for future markets.

120$/month for Internet 300 & U200 TV. Also receive a free Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

All rates are based on a 1year contract.

Reading their TOS I am pleased with their data cap.

U-verse Internet price includes 1TB of data/mo. $10 for each additional 50GB, with a maximum monthly overage charge of $30.

Good to see North Carolina in all of these latest lists that are coming out.

Bring that honey over to RTP boys! This area is desperate for an Internet speed increase.

That's crazy that most people are running 10mb or under. I have Comcast at both my Office and Home. The service at my business is just basic and I hover around 20-25mb. At home I have a more advanced service and never drop below 50mb. Usually stays around 60-70. Its more then plenty. In fact its more about the device your using processing the information then the speed of the internet at that point. Over 1k seems overkill but I welcome the technology.

1tb does sound decent but if you think about it. At 1gbps a 1tb data cap could be consumed in just over 2 hours lol.

That's only if you're using your full bandwidth for 2 straight hours..

I saw it listed just that for all we know it could be the last one to get it.

They are at least better than AT&T as a company, and they have had test markets for FTTH and bonded VDSL2 with speeds exceeding 60Mbps in some places. AT&T may have more resources in general and the (potential) capacity to deliver fiber service where they say they will, but honestly, they're one of the few companies I genuinely don't like at all. I highly doubt they could sustain a full gigabit per second the way they operate, even if web servers could all handle that kind of load.
