[IFLS] Powdered Alcohol Coming To The US - Page 12

You should head up to Ayinger, they have a nice tour.

For stateside people like me, they've got pretty wide distribution. Can usually find any place that has a decent German import selection. Just about all their stuff is good.

That looks good, maybe I can get some shipped from somewhere to try it. Was trying to get some wurzburger hofbrau but they cant sell it in CT. I heard that beer is pretty good.

man now I want to run to the store to find some beer like this haha.

Yeah, I was drinking Ayinger Jahr Hundert Bier the other night... it's nice, but similar to their kellerbier.

It's good, but even here it's not... "popular"... most places have a few crates is all. Big brands are Paulaner, Hacker Psorr, Lowenbrau, Spaten, Hofbrau, Augustina

If your drinking some craft beers like double IPA's or double stouts you better like the taste or your throwing money away. I bought a 4 pack of a triple goose island IPA to have with my steak the other week and only had one becuase it complimented my steak really well. I wasn't looking to get drunk only have something that paired well and a fruit drink doesn't pair well with a medium rare skirt steak. Its an acquired taste just like liquors.

With Coors it is also associated with Alc Content.

Coors Original aka Coors Banquet has a 1-2% higher Alc Percentage the last time that I checked.

Beer is supposed to be in the 50 degree range. The specific best temperature depends on the type of beer, but they're around there. You don't want it room temperature, but you also don't want it ice cold. Having it warmer means the volatiles can evaporate off, which means that as you drink it more of them are floating up around your nose and mouth which enhances the flavor.

A beer that tastes better when it's colder is a bad beer.

"Light" beers are an abomination.

I don't know about that. I have a great grandfather that likes his beer room temperature room and hates it cold. He drinks the cheaper beers like Coors Light, Budweiser, and his favorite Old Milwaukee or Paps Blue Ribbon. He told me after about the second beer you don't notice the taste anymore and he drinks 12-18 on a daily basis and to him they taste great so to each their own.

Yuengling is not that bad either though from what I've heard, he drinks that warm as well too.

I also knew a man that would drink Rubbing Alcohol and Petro so a lot of people just drink to get drunk.

To all the IPA guys. You're absolutely right. It is for taste now but lets not forget the ultimate. Imperial stout aged in whiskey barrels. MMMM.... IMO way better than any IPA and I do like IPA(except for terrapin Hopzilla, its just way too much for me lol) My suggestions would be

Dragons Milk 11%
Weyerbacher Heresey 9%(i think anyway)

and on a non whiskey barrell note

Rogue Hazlenut Brown Nectar
Rogue Imperial Chocolate Stout

Some other favorites

Sweetwater 420 extra pale ale
Moose Drool - can only get it west of the mississippi river though frown.gif
Black and tan made with Guiness Stout(not regular, yuk) and Bass
Pretty much anything that looks like Dr. Pepper in a glass lol

Oh and for any fellow Greenville South Carolinian's go downtown to Blue Ridge Brewery and try the XXX Eclipse Stout, it may be the best micro-brew I have ever had. They have several others as well. Their seasonal's are all worth trying. Trust me.

The hell with powdered alcohol, DRINK it for flavor and the enjoyment of sharing a new beer with a friend. Its about the experience, if you want just to get drunk go and get yourself a bottle or 2 of mad dog. Just remember that you never throw up the color your drank...
