Current gen AMD/Nvidia on par with my HD7950?

Looking to basically replace this card as lately I've started to notice some graphic issues with it. Don't really need anything more powerful than it though. What would be the comparable current gen cards?

A comparable card would be a R280 for AMD (which is literally just a 7950 with a slight clock boost) or an Nvidia 760. Keep in mind the 760 has only 2gb of vram compared to the 3 of the 7950.

Out of curiosity what kind of graphical problems are you having?

It's kind of hard to explain. I'll be playing a game and I'll get thin black lines that flash across in all different directions. They aren't perfectly diagonal or horizontal. They go in all different directions. It won't be across the whole screen either will just flash in spots.

This has been going on for about a month now. I've tried rolling back drivers and using beta one's with no change. I've reseated my waterblock etc. Temps under full load are usually around 32c on my video card give/take a degree or 2.

I'm pretty sure I remember reading that MSI are cool with people attaching waterblocks to their card, and maintain the warranty..

I might be wrong, but it's worth contacting the customer service rep team about it, because if they maintain your warranty, you might aswell try to RMA the card.. no?

I'll have to check into that also. Although if I RMA that one I'll be down as I don't have a backup currently. Plus I'm the 3rd owner so not sure where the warranty stands as I'm pretty sure it was registered by the original.

Also I found some GTX 760's with 4GB of ram. As DeadBoy said most 760's have 2GB of ram (Although I'm running my games at 1080p (I use a 32" Samsung TV for main display and the 24" as 2nd display.). But I found them with 4GB of ram and they are still cheaper than the AMD R9 280's.

Anyone know if the extra 2GB's give them any kind of edge over the AMD cards?

4GB is a waste on the 760. heck even with the 770. but the 760 2GB using just 1080 will be like the 7950. you won't see the difference. unless you are into benching, then stick to the 280 or a used 7950 but after this experience, i doubt if you get a uaed one now.

I wouldn't mind getting a used 7950 again. (Specially if I can find one that I can use my water block on.) I think I'll start looking at used 7950's and see if I can get one cheaper than a GTX 760. If I can't then I'll most likely go that direction.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Edit: And Yeah I don't benchmark I honestly don't even game that much anymore. I basically log into WoW a few times a week to Raid or I'll go on BF4 for a few hours on a random night.

i'd go with a used 7950 to make use of your block. first check the ocn market. get a reference one.
