Buying Graphics Card for Girlfriend

Thread Starter
I am building a PC for my girlfriend. I don't know what card to get. She plays Grid 2, Battlefield 4, Metro: Last Light; and as always, I always win biggrin.gif . Anyways, she games at 1080p with a Dell S2340L and would like to be able to play most games at Very High-Ultra around 60 frames. I am spending about $200-$250 for her GPU. For the CPU, I am getting her either a Core i3-4130 or an Athlon X4-760K with 8GB of DDR3-1600 RAM. Thanks for your help!

Why don't you check on the marketplace here on OCN, and on Hardforum, you can find pretty good cards in the $200-250 range!

A GTX 760 would be in that range and plays games nicely at 1080p smile.gif

Amd cards are super cheap right now used.

I'd get at least a 270x. It'll play metro 1 at high, one step from max at 65 in the benchmark. My gtx770 won't max it either..well it does but in the benchmark one step down when everything else maxed doesn't dip in fps in the middle of the benchmark, it stays constant. It does it at 78 though. I think last light is a bit better in fps?

My gf has a 270x toxic BTW and my old amd 1045t CPU so she's CPU limited.

Just get a good non-reference GTX 760, for 1080p you don't need anything more expensive. But keep in mind that a dual core i3 would be a bottleneck in those games and you won't be able to play @ 60 fps at very-high to ultra settings.

Get either a 760 or max a 280X
I'd suggest the 280X. My girlfriend uses a 760 and has a tonne of problems with BF4 crashing. A lot of people seem to have the same issues with BF4 with GTX 760's

Kinda, all power features are disabled. Oc'd to 3.0, my ecs board is budget 50 dollar board like 4-5 years ago. So idk if its the chip or board. I'm prolly gonna get her a i5 and sabertooth to match me. She really wants a air 540 case too.

My gf is just beginning PC games though so she doesn't need a lot of power just yet. CPU gets 5200 in 3dmark 11 physics
