Best fans for XSPC RX360 V3?

post #1 of 15
Thread Starter
I have got the XSPC RayStorm D5 RX360 V3 Water Cooling Kit and the fans on the rad are by far the loudest thing on my computer.
The fans they supply you with are 110mm that are uncommon.

How would I lower the voltage to the fans to lower their speed that is currently above all my other fans.

You could use a low noise adaptor or a fan controller to reduce the fan voltage.
If your thinking of getting new fans, any of the following will be fine:
1) Corsair SP120
2) Noctua NF F12
3) Scythe Gentle Typhoon

An example of Noctua NF-F12s on a RX 360 V3:

post #4 of 15
Are you sure those fans are 110mm? If that were true, I'm not sure how you would mount 120mm fans since the screws holes would be in different places. And others have already fit the RX360 V3 with other 120mm fans. And everything I've seen about the radiator says it uses 120mm fans with 15mm spacing. And also the reviews of the included fans all make no mention of being 110mm vs 120mm

he's mistaken, the fans that come with that kit are definitely 120mm. the solution to the noise issue is very simple. plug your fans into your motherboard and use your BIOS to set what speeds they run at depending on cpu temp.

i.e.

30c = 30%
40c = 40%
50c = 75%
60c = 100%

this will keep the fans running very quiet while the computer is idling and ramp up their power as load increases and the need for cooling outweighs the need for noise reduction.

I was mistaken they are 120mm fans. I measured the diameter of the fan it self not the fan and the bracket that holds it.
I ended up getting the corsair fans instead of the noctura fans that are quieter since I prefer the looks of the corsair fans.

Thanks.

I'm in the market for a new set of fans, Scythe GTs seem to be out of stock everywhere, and where they're not they're even more expensive than they used to be - what's the suggested alternative for 120mm rad fans these days? 1500rpm max
(Rather than making a whole new thread about fans)

Thanks
