USB 2 vs 3

I am using the laptop in my sig, it supports USB 3.0 but also 2.0, I've been trying my V8 on the USB3 but it doesn't seem to have any noticeable effect in games.

Is there any difference between USB 2 and 3 usage for gaming mouse? Which is recommended?

Afaik a mouse doesn't use the full bandwidth of a usb slot, it's main bonuses for 3.0 over 2 is for transferring large files and I believe the amount of power it's able to supply Eg, it's faster to charge a phone through a USB 3 than USB 2 port.

Mice wouldn't make any difference that I can think of, but I'm sure there'll be experts chiming in at some point to give a better answer

Laptop uses a 3rd party controller though :s

Didn't notice any either. But I do use USB 3.0 for my keyboard. USB 3.0 has 1 feature similar to PS2 and that is its ability to not continuously poll but only when necessary. Not that it gives me a actual ingame benefit, but it does stop ISR count spamming.

Steelseries shows similar issues. SS Sensei Raw, upon installed the steelseries drivers, would basically disable my Razer Blackwidow keyboard for some reason.
Plugging them both back in/out would make all USB devices go... well derp really, none worked then.

Plugging 1 of them in the USB 3.0 ports fixes this.

I usually use USB 2.0 as protection against failed firmware updates, that has happened more than once trying to do them on 3.0. I'm looking at you, Sensei.

AFAIK according to USB 3.0 spec it have no pooling rate. Which is superior for mouses/keyboards comparing to USB 2.0 ports. However im not technican and my knowledge is based on Internet wisdom... if someone can confirm with sources and good explanation I'll be thankful

here is quote from wikipedia, i cant find same specsheet i found some time ago:

"Improved bus utilization - a new feature is added (using packets NRDY and ERDY) to let a device asynchronously notify the host of its readiness (no need for polling)"

Lol and I also forgot:

Does the mouse take advantage of those data packet types?

I will test Enotus and compare result wth USB3 / USB2

Well first thing - expand please:p Im not technican and want to understand it as clear as possible

Second - If I understood correctly - I meant future mices that will have USB 3.0 cable which(according to my knowledge) is also essential to work it this way we think it should(more data lines).

for those usb 2.0 present devices it still will have pooling rate since cable itself(again according to my knowledge) does not make it possible to work asynchrometic. However they should still work bit better since usb 3.0 controllers itself are more efficient(right?)

Most people going back months ago have said USB3 feels different than USB2 for their mouse. I think even Skylit said it.

This was at a time of z68 + z77 motherboards, it might change in the future for better or even worse.

All Data I've found says something different. If you think not then ok but proofs please and sources

mice might not "know " difference but it's connection outside it and how exchanging information between devices is handled that really matters and makes difference. And unlimited pooling a'ka real time data sync should make feel in mice different- better IMHO since you input is not hindered by anything. If I'm wrong correct me but please something more than "no it can't be"... more deep explanation please
