Fx-8350 and hyper 212 evo temp problem - Page 3

great..so i could use for example the stock fx6300 fan to put at the back? although I think it's to much rpm..what brand would you recommend?

Keep in mind you can control all your fan headers on that mobo using Asus FanXpert. I would say 80 to 92mm is the ideal size because it covers both the cpu socket and vrm area on the back. 120 or 140mm fans would work too and even cover the back of the ram slots if the fans are positioned correctly. When fans are used up close, there is an area of dead air space in front of the fan at the hub, so that has to be kept in mind when positioning the fan. Despite the fancy ram fins, DDR3 ram doesnt run very warm at all unless pushed to extremes, so Im not concerned with ram cooling with my great case cooling.

Magic Sjefke, your board also has small digi+ 8 chips on the back behind the vrms. These have been measured to 113C under load without fan cooling.

I recently replaced my 92mm fan on the back that had been there about 10 years running on 7 volts. I estimate its airflow at that voltage was around 10 or 15 cfms. I replaced it with an Arctic Cooling 92mm PWM fan (6 years warranty) that has 43 cfm airflow on high. I only noticed a maybe a half C difference in socket temps and a 10C drop, from 43C to 33C, on those little digi+ hot chips under heavy load. So high CFM fans dont make that much of a difference, but getting airflow over the right areas does.

I think that sensor on my board is not working properly..hwinfo shows temps of 128c in idle mode

Your board has no sensor for those vrm digi+ chips. The temps were measured using an infrared thermometer.

I went overkill and rigged two 80mm fans on my vrm heatsinks. They cover enough to reach my h100i water block to help blow air under it. I also added the stock 8350 70mm fan on the back of my socket. Help lower my socket/vrm temps down by 12c. 6+2 boards can easily handle OC's but need some extra cooling on the socket/vrms if you don't live in an area with a low ambient temperature... If you grab a 8+2 you wouldn't have to worry to much about it.

the 212 evo is a great cooler for stock and a mild overclock to about 4.2 - 4.3ghz on a 8350. I wouldn't push it beyond that.

Orlfman, you have to rotate that pic 90 degrees ccw.

How did you mount the two fans? Double sided tape?
