You're right. Absolutely ridiculous.

Children get their consoles to other houses. They play with their friends and they switch game machines.

Didn't you have any friends?

He was mocking the guy he responded to but you have been making seriously good remarks lately. Hope you're looking forward to Mullins as much as I do thumb.gif

So it seems this chip is related to Beema laptops soon to hit the shelves. I realize how important this segment (little core) is for AMD right now, but personally, I find it extremely difficult to get excited about something like this.

Honestly AMD is solving a problem in a different way rather than Intel or anyone else is, but everyone hates them for doing so but cries "We need competition". Ironic at best IMO.

Hating on AMD is simply the cool thing to do, didn't you know? Honestly Intel peeps are just mad because they don't get #TrueAudio.

Seriously though, the whole "durrr we needz compitition dawg" card is so ridiculous and outdated that it astounds me that people still throw it out. Even if AMD were close to Intel's CPU perf, Intel wouldn't "innovate" any quicker than they are now. I also love that buzzword, "innovate". Increasing single-threaded IPC isn't "innovation", that's just normal progression. It's completely expected. Something like the HSA movement is an actual innovation, because the entirety of the IT world can benefit from it much more than stagnant, anemic minimal IPC increases.

It's a thin argument because they didn't fail. Intel sells more GPU's than any other manufacturer, and has for years. They just haven't been selling performance GPU's. But when it comes to what gets sold in the vast majority of store-bought PC's and laptops, it's some sort of Intel integrated graphics.

They've always been content to let Nvidia and ATI/AMD fight it out for the workstation and gaming graphics markets. If they truly wanted into that segment, they'd just buy Nvidia. And if HSA takes off, they will.

First they cant just buy Nvidia, not that easy. Second iGPU don't really count as a share of the market when a great deal lay unused with dGPU used instead. So they really don't sell more GPUs actually, it just comes with the CPUs that were bought so it kinda isn't a choice hence why they aren't really considered a choice or competition.
