I meant it as nothing in our world is really flat there are dimensions to it even though something is really really flat it still would have a tiny bit of length in the small dimension. no 2d no 3d only 4d!

So much Chemistry and Physics talk in a cpu related thread biggrin.gif

I wish Intel would too so their iGPUs could be put to good use.

They won't push HSA because their GPUs are so weak they are only designed to handle pixel pushing and no logical operations. They faked their true performance by placing a eDRAM on the processor as a frame buffer, Yes it raises the lower frame limitation and provides better frame interpretation if frames are skipped, but doesn't raise max frame value. Heck even Intel has Quad channel ram, the bus speed on that iGPU should be through the roof. It's not. It's not smart enough to handle anything extreme. HSA would make an a10-7850k 5-20x faster than the best average consumer i7.

hopefully we will see some HSA goodness this year

Intel iGPUs are weak for gaming because there's not enough "pixel pushing." The ratio of shaders to texture/ROP is way too high, resulting in subpar graphics performance and decent OpenCL performance. Implementing HSA for Intel is a matter of CPU architecture, not GPU performance as you claim.

Also, all the Intel CPUs that have GPUs don't have quad-channel memory.

In a perfect world, we would have motherboards that take CPUs and GPUs, RAM and VRAM modules. Chipsets would be open source and sockets universal, only changing when absolutely necessary. Let them compete on chips, not sockets and fittings.

Too big mobos? Doesn't matter. Split them in two.

Connect them. Fit them in "L" shape. Whatever.

Well that's pretty silly on Intel's part to not include quad channel to the CPUs with iGPUs. HSA is part GPU, it'd require a form of GPU that is smart not just simply a pixel pusher. Smart being that it can handle more operations than just rendering like extreme math equations. You're right though.
