Need advise on upgrade due to possible maxwell delays? (780 > 780 SLI)

I've had my 780 for almost a year now and I'm really itching to upgrade something!

Was waiting for maxwell but from what it seems its not looking good for 20nm, so I was thinking about grabbing another 780 for $550 (aus prices) till 20nm maxwell comes out with aftermarket coolers. I'm only running a 1080p 120hz monitor (along side a 1080p 60hz monitor) currently but going to buy the ASUS Swift 1440p 120hz monitor as soon as pre-orders hit in australia, so would this be a good idea to "pre-future" proof myself for when I get this monitor?

Any small "nah your crazy, stay with your 780" or "go for it" advice would be nice! Literally been sitting here for the past 5-6 hours researching/going over if I wanna pull the trigger on this.

If and when you upgrade your monitor to the 1440p, then yes, buy yourself a 780. Until then, hold out.
OT: Would you mind scratching my itch instead biggrin.gif

Ta for the reply! My only concern is when the monitor is released (may not be till late q2/3 this year) will I still be able to get myself a stock 780? Not many 680s you can buy here brand new! Im not a fan of buying stuff second hand frown.gif

Hmm ill leave your own personal itches to scratch yourself tongue.gif

I don't see a reason for Nvidia to stop the 780 since the Maxwell's are not gonna b out until early 2015. I wouldn't worry about not having stocks.
