Can a dead AMD card be fixed?

Thread Starter
I was offered a dead 5970 for $30, I plan to buy it and try to bake it, see if it works. That particular 5970 has been used for mining litecoin, or any other scrypt based coin. The person said that there is no signal from the card, "not detected by the PC" in his words.

Any chance it can be fixed by baking? Usually mining Litecoin uses the memory, and that is the component that gets hotter.

I was going to see try baking. That seems to fix a lot of problems sometimes. And if it works well you scored a pretty decent card for cheap coin. And if it doesn't.... Well you can still cannibalize it for spare parts.
