Switch to Kaspersky or Avira + Malwarebytes.

If you're worried about being tracked I'd recommend using Firefox with Do Not Track Me, Disconnect, and Ghostery plugins installed.

Tracking cookies are basically part of what sites use to gather information about you. Most of it is anonymous like what you're viewing on that site so it loads faster and ads running on the page and stuff, not anything to worry about. Occasionally there can be bad tracking cookies, although it is rare. Some browsers have a feature in their settings called "Do Not Track" which blocks a lot of cookies. So from a security point don't fret about them, you get them from browsing any site and they are normal. Kaspersky is pretty good too I use it and I would say it and BitDefender are probably the best anti virus programs. Norton has gotten good too but it is a bit of a hog in comparison to Kaspersky and BitDefender.

No, that is unlikely as Symantec is one of Kaspersky's main rivals in internet security. Most "tune up" tools are useless anyway, if you want to clean temporary files and other stuff you don't need off of your computer then just use CCleaner: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard

Surprised no one has mentioned ESET yet.

I won't say its better then this or that; It is simply one i would recommend over both Norton and Kaspersky.
I have advanced knowledge about the product and can answer any combination of questions.

Now days most malware infections are trojans, and financially based. Majority fall into the Potentially unwanted application category and consist of toolbars, bho, redirect packages, ransomware, etc.
Many vendors of security products aren't really up to speed on the PUA's. Two others i recommend that have decent databases are Emsisoft, and Malwarebytes, a few others are pretty close as well, like Bitdefender and any others with a good PUA database.

Good luck on your decision.

As a person who used to spread RATs, I use Kaspersky Pure+Zemana Antilogger+USB Disk+Cyber Arms Intrusionn detection
Been like this since 2011, never got infected with anything.
But also depends on the user, if it's a dumb user who would ignore AVs warnings or run a suspicious file outside a sandbox you'll still get infected.
