Can someone help me with my budget build?

Thread Starter
Hello all,

I am coming from consoles and I have a firm budget of $600.

I have the case, storage, cooler, optical drive, and OS.

I want something along the lines of 280X and an 8 Core CPU. I dont need an 8350 because I can OC a 8320 so I don't need the best and the only the best. I also want it to be upgradeable, so in the future I can pop in another CPU.
I will be playing BF4 mostly, wanting ultra settings and 2msaa on 1600*900.
I mean $600 for the rest, not all of it. Can stretch to $650.
Thanks,
-Kai

The case is a 350D and I prefer to have the colours be black and red if possible

Can i ask why you want an 8-core processor? Are you planning to do highly threaded work, or is this a gaming/daily use computer?

The 280X is about $320, so that leaves $280 for mobo, ram and cpu.

Are you planning to SLI/Crossfire in the future ?
And what cooler do you have for it ?

Ah, see that works then. AMD will be your best (and only) option at your price range, which i'm sure you already knew. I do not have much, if any, knowledge about AMD motherboard compatibilities, so i'll leave that to others. I can suggest the Samsung 840 EVO 120gb SSD for $81 on Amazon

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-EVO-Series-2-5-Inch-MZ-7TE120BW/dp/B00E3W15P0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398302178&sr=8-1&keywords=Samsung+840+EVO+120

A solid Seasonic G-series 550w PSU for 80$

http://www.amazon.com/SeaSonic-550-Watt-CrossFire-Certified-SSR-550RM/dp/B00918MEZG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398302307&sr=8-1&keywords=Seasonic+G+550w:

A 280x is roughly $300, that's pretty much going to put the rest of the build out of your $600 ballpark. Maybe some other people will chime in with some suggestions.

Everyone is going to have their opinion about what you could/should do... My 2 cents to start with would be to lower your expectations a bit starting with the GPU while a 280x is a nice card it's also the easiest part to replace when you want to upgrade

I just picked up a r9 270x from ebay for $130 shipped, the thing hasn't even been used and it will give me FPS just shy of a 280. Blowing most of your budget on the video card will leave you with some poor choices for the rest of the system.

I have the H100i and the 840Evo and a Barricuda Drive. I have the 350D Windowed. If I lower to a 270X Toxic, how will it do in BF4 and rendering? Thanks for the advice guys!

His case is the Corsair 350D though, which is Micro-ATX. That Mobo is ATX. mATX leaves him with few options.
