Corsair H100i leak with two wet GTX 770s and me waiting on a response from Corsair

Thread Starter
When I bought my first i5 (3570K) I decided to go the lazy water cooling route and bought a H100i. Ended up chopping up my also new at the time Rosewill Blackhawk case to make it fit and at that point I questioned why I didn't build my own loop like in my skt 939/775 days. The H100i has stayed with my main rig parts and that now includes an i7-4930K that the H100i actually cools reasonably well.

Fast forward to Monday afternoon when I got my 750 Ti in to play with before I get around to building my new HTPC. I pulled my GTX 770s from the main rig planning to clean the dust bunnies out and put the 750 Ti in to have some unrestricted fun with for the afternoon. I noticed while they were sitting on my desk a "greasy film" on the card I usually run in the first slot. It took me about 30 seconds to go from...wonder what that is....to power down mode.

Upon further didn't see any leaks initially, but upon further inspection found the source rather easily:

It's really hard to pick up in pictures and I actually wiped most of the noticeable coolant off before thinking to take pics of the cards, but you can easily see just how much moisture got to the top card by looking at the "BIOS Version" sticker and the color change where the stickers got wet

As of now I've submitted the Support ticket with Corsair and I'm waiting on a response. According to their system I submitted the ticket 4/22/2014 @ 12:09 AM...I'm pretty sure it was before that, but whatever.

I had been having issues under load of the system locking up, rebooting and general instability under load and put it off as my CPU/GPU OCs being unstable but until the last week they hadn't been too frequent, I guess I MIGHT have a root cause of the issues now :-\

Looks like the plan to screw around with a 750 Ti for the afternoon may have saved a lot of other hardware (assuming both the cards still work fine)

I've just now gotten to the point of being able to clean off the cards and let them dry, I'll be testing them shortly to see just how mad I am, but I've read on here that Corsair is good about taking care of watercooling issues like this..I just wish the wait time wasn't so long to get any response and that I wasn't stuck with this piece of crap that came out of an iBuyPower rig I refurbed for a friend to keep the 4930K cool, it can do stock lightly under volted and it STILL hits over 60C.

I'll come back and update once Corsair gets back to me. Hopefully all ends well, but I don't have much of a warm fuzzy feeling right now (except from the cold medicine I'm taking).

I have a corsair h100i and I've been running it fine for about a month now. That's very unfortunate and I'm sorry that happened, I hope that doesn't happen with mine but from now on ill keep an eye on any potential leaks. Thanks for the heads up

Yeah man, I hope Corsair fixes this!!

Well after some testing last night I've got mixed news. The top GTX 770 gave me issues and random system reboots like I've been having over the past week or so, took it out and put in the bottom card no issues after a couple hours of gaming and running a load on it all night.

Still haven't gotten a reply back from Corsair worriedsmiley.gif and with every day that passes I question that H100i purchase more...

Isn't Corsair in the industry section here? Wouldn't hurt to post or PM them.

I've got an update for everyone.

Please attach a copy of the original invoice to this ticket for warranty purposes. Once verified, we will be able to send you a replacement.

We apologize that the unit has leaked. If it did not damage your GPU, we will proceed with replacing this unit. If it did, we will need to proceed with a damage claim procedure.

Even though that says 11:44 AM...it didn't show the message to me until sometime after 3PM in the same timezone, but OK, I uploaded my newegg invoice a short while ago along with an update for them that one GPU seems fine and the other has issues. Also a question about the standing of my eVGA warranty on the working card as it got wet too.

The reply I got back VERY quickly this time

Hello Christopher,

I am not familiar with EVGA's policy but i would assume if any water mark is present, the warranty will be voided. I would suggest taking care of it now.

I will forward this ticket to our damage claim specialist.

Looks like this is finally going somewhere smile.gif I'm guessing there's a good chance that I'll be getting both cards replaced based on that wording and if so that's some crazy good customer service. We will see how it all works out and I'll keep this updated.

I just went through a total system cleaning and remove and replace all devices in the case and switched from a push intake to a push exhaust config and it appears my H110 is about half empty. I have not noticed any leaks but i am very concerned about this. anyone else have this issue?

How do you check if it's half empty? I'm curious to check my H100i that I've been running since November.
