[WCCF] ASRock Z97 Motherboards Exposed – Z97 OC OC Formula, Z97 Extreme 6, FATAL1TY Z97X Killer, Z97E-ITX /AC Detailed - Page 10

I'm hoping to see the Z97M OC Formula on the US market very soon. I'll be needing to make a purchase here in the next couple of weeks. This ASRock mATX board looks to have the best combo of features, power componentry, and price (?).

Z87M OC Formula was way better regarding features.
That's why the price is so low for the new Z97M OC Formula :

I'm not an expert, but Asrock appears to be a weird situation. The VRM controller is usually "hybrid/analog" which is considered bad compared to a digital (usually from the IR brand), but, their MOSFETs are the most advanced in the business, in various boards, e.g. 40A over 6.5W dissipation while even the GB SOC Force is on 40A over 10.5W dissipation (the lower the dissipation power is, the better because it means they need less cooling / they lose less power).

PS. I don't know the details for this board for sure but for the Extreme 4 and 6 I know the details of their controller and MOSFETs on Z97.

edit: Aha, the Z87 controller was IR, so this does have a potential to be amazing.

I'm in for either this or the Pro4-M. Whichever one hits Microcenter first, hoping for their combo deal to apply to Devils's Canyon. Even better if it will apply to the Unlocked Pentium too.

MC usually offers combo deals on the unlocked CPU's. Hopefully the new Pentium gets the same treatment.

Wow, if we confirm that the Z97M OC Formula has an IR controller and 40A at 6.5W x 8 without doublers, we may be looking at the most advanced OC board for its price range. It would beat the UD5H by a long margin for anyone not needing its extra features. It would basically be the UD3H or D3H that Gigabyte failed to have on OC VRMs.

Dropping down to a Pro4-M may not be a bad backup plan if the OC isn't ready to go. I can cross the missing features road later. The alternatives being the Gigabyte gaming which seems high on features, light on quality and the Asus Gene which is awfully expensive to wonder why I have no SATA express ports.

Yeah, this is a DC build too, and a Microcenter combo deal would indeed be brilliant! I'm happy to pay the extra cash for a motherboard I actually want though, and if I have to wait, I probably will. Hopefully this OC board will show itself soon and I won't have to make a tough choice.
