MSI 780ti Gaming - One Fan Rattling Sound

Thread Starter
Hello overclockers,

Last night i noticed hearing rattling sound from one of the fans from my gpu.

I am 100% sure it is coming from gpu, as i did stop affected fan for couple of seconds with my finger, and noise was gone.

Any1 else had experience with this before?

Temps look fine while idling\playing games.

I noticed this while playing Battlefield 4 Game, as i know this Game uses a lot of gpu power, this is probably why this was the first time noticing this.

I did another test with Afterburner - making FANS 100% speed, and sound was back.

Should i RMA this card?
How is MSI RMA in Canada?
Do they offer Advanced RMA?

Thank you!

The fan bearing is probably dry. Either remove the cooler and see if there is a plug on the fan that can be removed so you can oil the bearing or just RMA the card. I can't answer your other questions because I have never dealt with a RMA through MSI.

Thank you for responding.

I would rather RMA the card, instead of touching stuff myself, that could void the warranty, right?

Yes it could if you did end up having to RMA the card and they noticed it was tampered with.

Thanks

I sent e-mail to MSi about hour ago, to see what they will say, and they responded to me already.

Problem for me is that i work from home, and if i RMA this card, i will not able to use this PC :\

I hope they have Advanced RMA and they will allow me to do that.

How did your RMA work out? I have the same exact fan noise issue on my MSI GTX 760 when the fan is cranked up to 100%. Thinking of RMA it as well, but would prefer an advanced RMA. Did they give this option to you?
