You haven't seen my local walmart, then... Eeesshhh.... I Rather be browsing a quiet Gamestop with three customers than a place with 300 rowdy customers. X_x

Ugh, mobile games. I always found it kind of funny that their PC section was one lonely rack in the back of the store. Actually Half a rack. I actually remember how much ground the PC section has lost in that store in 10 years. Started with a smaller than console wall, then got shorter. Then they put it on a rack and had 3 or all sides full with PC games. Then they went to 2 because they started putting used accessories on one side. Then it went down to 1. And that is gradually growing shorter as people buy or they take home the games.

I remember they bought Impulse. Have they been trying to push that at all with like big sales or anything? I'm not sure what they mean by mobile. I can see them falling into the Radioshack pitfall of trying to sell mobile phones when carrier stores and places like Best Buy and Wal-Mart are more likely to be the place people would actually go to rather than a store named, "Radioshack," or "Gamestop." I have no confidence they can make their own app store like Amazon has and be successful in it. As games go more digital with consoles they'll need to be able to sell digital codes like Amazon does with PS4.

They can be the Guitar Center of games. Be that one place with all the random Android micro-consoles. Have all the cool new VR headset demos. That Simply Mac and Spring Mobile stuff I doubt can replace a declining Gamestop influence. The companies going to lose its identity and be the second fiddle store in all these gaming adjacent fields. I think Gamestop in the future might end up like Radioshack, not horrible, just pure mediocre.

I am not a fan of Gamestop, in the slightest bit. Their entire model is a joke, and they blatantly try and rip off customers at every turn.

I still remember how our gamestop would open all the games and use the paper contents in displays ... then sell the games at full price as if they were sealed. I started to refuse open copies but they refused to sell me one saying they all had been opened. It was crap like that which started to make me hate them. Crap trade in prices and used games sell for a mear $5 less than new. I kind of feel the same about gamestop as i do Madcatz products. Both leave you feeling used and ashamed of yourself for using them.

I stopped buying games from Gamestop after the whole Deus EX: Human Revolution PC thing that they did a while back. That, and I also got tired of seeing them selling open copies of games as brand new. When I found out about the Deus Ex thing, I went in to the Gamestop that I used to shop at and cancelled my preorder for both Human Revolution, Battlefield 3, and all the other PC games that I preordered and haven't shopped there since then. Now if I really want a retail copy of PC games, I'd rather go to the nearby Target (which surprisingly has a bigger and way better selection than most Gamestops) or I buy my games from Amazon and Steam.

I might sound like a dick, but I wouldn't mind if Gamestop went out of business. Screw them. wink.gif

That is hilarious, I remember some of their PS2 controllers.

They were the half assed third party controllers that your friend would always force you to use at his house lachen.gif

Children gained access to the internet. Gamestop closes. Expected.

It will be a matter of time before they will close yet more stores, go back to the name Electronics Boutique, and just sell cell phones and iDevices.
