Advise needed on 7970 lightning BE - upgrade to r9 290x with Accelero Hybrid II - 120

hi all,
as the title says im looking to upgrade my 7970 lightning BE,
I would like to get a r9 290X and add a Accelero Hybrid II - 120 to it,
I just wanted to see that you think? would it be worth it? will I see a huge difference? also if I was to add the Accelero Hybrid II would it be worth getting a reference design 290x? I like the look of the r9 290x lightning but its expensive, especially if Im adding the Accelero Hybrid II. I like the idea that the 290x lightning has the mos sink because it seems the Accelero Hybrid II only cools from the back, with nothing on the front, surely that's going to cause a lot of heat?

looking at the site http://versus.com/en/msi-radeon-hd-7970-lightning-be-vs-amd-radeon-r9-290x it seems my current card has some better specs in some areas,
I don't want to spend the money and upgrade if I only see a small increase.

any thoughts.

thanks

a 290X should match that at 1250.

i have no clue. i just found it here in ocn. obviously, those were suicide runs and just to give you an idea of the difference.

i might be wrong . . . are there any 7970s that run those clocks 7/24? i know no 290 will or 290X for that matter. 1200 is a more reasonable goal. i guess what i am trying to say is even at stock the 290 or the 290X will be an upgrade.

might have to get one in that case, what do you think about the Accelero Hybrid II? do you think I will need to find some way to cool the vrms? as the heatsink attaches to the back of the card

so will I see a boost in gaming if I upgrade my 7970 lightning BE - to r9 290x?
or just in benchmarks?
honestly, the 7970 is a beastly of a card, and upgrading to a 290x will not see that big of a performance jump. I would say gaming in 1080p 60fps, then there prolly be no reason to upgrade.
However, if money is not an issue or your playing on better monitor than that then maybe it might be worth it.

At 1080p resolution you will still be happy with your beastly HD7970 @ 1150/1500MHz card, if you're planning on 1440p screen then go for an upgrade.

I have upgraded from HD7950 @ 1150/1600MHz to GTX 780 OCd @ 1150/1600 and at FullHD res I would say that this GTX is an overkill card as my overclocked Asus HD7950 DC2 TOP did everythig like this GTX 780 does, that means enjoyable gaming experience.

CHEERS..
