[Official] Dark Souls II for PC Thread - Page 37

^I personally still use it. I like having no mouse cursor and a sharper background. Its still alpha 4, so no new stuff yet. Some ppl use both enb and gedosato. There is a potential VAC ban from using the software, so the author does mention 'use at your own risk'.

Down sampling from 4K or higher is really the biggest benefit to be had running any mod at this moment. The difference in visual fidelity is really quite drastic. The other stuff is kind of meh (though maxed out SMAA is a sight to behold). DoF fliters in (Bokeh, or standard) any capacity just ain't for me.

Some people have had an issue on the highest end cards where maxing all these things out cause quite a frame rate drop, but I'm running a 290X generally very bottlenecked by a 7850k APU, and unless some sort of undiscovered HSA voodoo/hybrid crossfire thing is going on, I've never seen my frames go below 59 FPS.

Truth be told, until someone (Likely Durante from the rumors) figures out how to reimplement, or how to create a reasonable facsimile of, the original beta lighting engine, downsampling is and will continue to be the best reason to mod Dark Souls 2.

Hope that helps.

thank you for the response and all the "spoilers" being flagged as such so when I do get a chance to play in the next couple of months I'm still spoiler free.

I also agree about sorcery being underpowered. I took a break from my pure melee/strength character to do a new sorcerer build, and my experience was kind of 'meh'. I actually found the first two thirds of the game to be very easy, with the various soul arrows and souls spears doing good damage, but the last 1/3 of the game has been very challenging
I find my magic isn't doing the 'god-like' levels of damage people on other forums have been talking about. Sure, it's powerful, but I can't just walk over bosses. Summoning helps a lot, just spam spells while the other person acts as a distraction.
Also, there are some areas and enemies that make it very difficult to keep a safe distance. No one-shot kill+nowhere to retreat to+low HP has been the death of me many times.
Hexes have been fun, and I've found them to be more powerful then sorcery spells unless the enemy is Dark resistant.
Lightning Spear does great damage in most situations, plus you can snipe with it.
I think I'll do a Dex/Buff build next, maybe with a rapier or katana, and switch out weapon buffs based on the enemy's weakness.

Never used it, how's the moveset and reach? The greatsword has that wide horizontal swing 1h r1. Makes crowd control a breeze.

Isn't the malformed skull just a weaker version of the malformed shell?

Looks like I was wrong.

I must have missed the malformed skull during my first playthrough. Only got the malformed shell.

It's an extremely rare drop from the lumbering half dragon beasts found in Sinner's Rise.

Doesn't help that they don't respawn when you kill them. frown.gif

On a side note, can anyone give tips on the best weapons to use for on the crystal lizards? I've just been using bow and arrows on them and if possible attack them in a direction where they are running into a wall. Cant stand the ones that are placed where they fall off a cliff.
