XBMC is amazing for video, but absolutely nothing even compares to foobar2000 for music, which ironically (because of it's level of openness and customization) has Zero linux support at the moment.

You may want to try out Zorin OS Very Similar to Windows XP/7. Getting use to it and may replace my laptop OS with it.

That's debatable and you're welcome to your opinion but Microsoft has already shelved Win 8 after it's strong negative feedback from the majority of consumers. They are focusing on Win 9 and making it more widely acceptable to consumers that are use to XP/Win 7.

Of course advocates ( for example: me ) of both sides would come here.

Truth be told to the OP: We cannot tell you what the best operating system is, that is something only YOU can decide.

We may give some suggestions, but only you can define what is the best OS is for yourself.

I didn't expect so many replies, thank you guys! I'll go ahead and research how to dual-boot and try Linux 16 or whatever the latest one is. Also, I don't mind if it does things differently, I'm a techy guy and like to play around with stuff.

Okay so I installed Linux Mint. When booting I can pick between Windows8/Linux/LinuxRecovery/memtest86. I pick Linux and it shows the loading logo but it never enters the OS. Not sure what's wrong, any ideas?

EDIT:
I have installed this according to this guide: http://itsfoss.com/guide-install-linux-mint-16-dual-boot-windows/
Here is a picture of my current partitions.

Maybe it's a UEFI issue. If you have secure boot or whatever going it might be interfering. I suggest posting this issue into the Linux section so the guys there can help there.

Best is subjective and relative to your needs like others have said. At work OS X is best because I make my money that way, at home I'm split between OS X and Linux. Computer OS's aren't religion they are things to help you get things done whether it's work or pleasure use the one that thinks like you and runs your stuff.
