No, you have to make the Anti-Virus software do it. If you do it yourself, then you aren't going to get it clean.

I disagree. If I let the Antivirus do it automatically, I would not trust it and I would still search around myself afterwards. If I do that, I can then simply do it myself in the first place.
The only thing the Antivirus can do that you can't do yourself is disinfect a program file where the virus injected itself inside. I wouldn't trust that, would uninstall those programs and install them again. For Windows files that are infected like that, there's the System File Checker that can restore the original file and you should run that.
In any case, I'd probably flip out and wipe the computer if I got a real virus, something that actually infects program files. If it's just some malware like this Bitcoin mining stuff, that isn't that bad.
