So IMO this is not a good time to go for 4k. If you get an 4k monitor now you will hate your self when GPU's/monitors with HDMI 2.0 and Displayport 1.3 support roll out.

Ah I didn't know that So even with this new Samsung : http://www.kitguru.net/peripherals/monitors/faith/samsung-unloads-60hz-4k-tv-through-ocuk-at-499/ I guess its the same problems?

No, the Samsung is unique, as it does not use MST.

No no no, vram in sli doesn't stack, you will only be able to use 4GB MAX! but due to the slow memory bus of the 670 thats going to be less in most cases.

Anyway, as for the monitor, Its a good monitor, but it has a TN panel, which has worse color reproduction and uniformity. The monitor is good for a TN, but its bad compared to an IPS or PLS monitor. This is one of the reasons why its so cheap.
Here's a good in depth review with all the pro's and cons: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5YXWqhL9ik

But i'd go with something like the ASUS 1440p ips/pls monitors.

Seems to me the point of 4k is because you want your games to be pretty. Playing at an acceptable low settings seems counter-productive.

If it were me looking at getting 4k I would invest in 2x 770 or better.

The Samsung 4k display certainly isn't "mediocre", but it is a TN display. I'd rather have 1440p IPS/96hz for $350 than 4k TN/60hz for $700, but there's nothing wrong with the Samsung.

Ok I see so there will be hidden problems with that samsung I see hmmm...I am currently on a NEC : http://www.trustedreviews.com/NEC-MultiSync-LCD2470WNX_Monitor_review It was a beast in its day would I see a big difference between that and the "I'd rather have 1440p IPS/96hz for $350" Which one would you recommend?

I guess I may hold off till after this summer but still interesting to see what you think...

A single 780ti would be around twice as powerful as your GPU*, and realistically you probably want a pair of 290's or 780's. It'd be a bit awkward and forced to lower settings with a single card which is considered more midrange these days (670 is a little better than a 760 which costs ~£170)

*670 has 7 SMX and a 256 bit memory bus - in SLI, this is effectively 14 SMX and a 256 bit memory bus, as traffic on memory bus is doubled and you store all data in each cards VRAM, so VRAM does not double either (a pair of 4gb cards = 4gb VRAM total available for use). There's an SLI performance penalty, too, as well as some other effects

780ti has 15 SMX and a 384 bit memory bus

It would be a decent step up, yes.

Don't count the Samsung out. TN is the only real "catch", in fact I've thought about getting one myself.

Hmm. Interesting. Its not made entirely clear how it works but looks like it some new type of ASIC that can get an single tile 4k 60Hz through DP 1.2. It also seams like AMD had its fingers in this cake and its been especially made to work with GNC cards.

Further googeleing reviled that it does not yet work correctly with Nvidia cards (at least not SLI) though it should be fixed with the next driver release.

Its hard to say if this is something worth while or just a another stop gap measure with dubious driver support.

Edit: Looks like the offical name of the tech is DP 1.2 HBR2 standing for High Bit Rate 2.
