I dont know how this driver works on Tri-fire R9-290, but try to double check your bios settings and slightly adjust some of them (in my case it was CPU/NB voltage).

Tried it. Wasnt that case - system was powering off.

I dont know how Adobe managed it, but Flash Player is able to detect latent instabilities which are not present during stress tests... System was reacting on cold ambient temps, rather than hot.

1) e.g. The amazing Spiderman 2
when the framerate drops just when you move the camera, is it a game engine issue (not optimized at all, seems that has problems even with Nvidia), Dx11 capability (because devs want too much from DX) or drivers issue? or porting from console? is it a port ?

2) frame drops with Batman Arkham Origins (when he flies/planes or pulls the claw to cling with F key) have to do with UE3 engine, Nvidia optimizations or DX ?

3) Freeze/frame drops in Tomb raider (when she passes under the caves or between the tunnels, or excited actions and others...) what's the real cause?

4) random stalls (fast freeze of the scene, less than 1 sec for sure) and stuttering in Mantle Thief (when he passes through the boxes with the E key or forces a window and others...) and abnormal frame drops in Mantle BF4 for seconds... (and then it goes back to normal)...
depend on the beta phase of Mantle? this will be fixed or is however a restriction at the moment?

5) UE3 engine has issues with textures streaming? UE4 is better about this?

6) e.g. a HDD access time of 15ms can be an issue with regular gameplay or is all about level loading times? all the textures and objects are into Vram at loading level? (ATM i have one SSD but it's reserved to the system, anyway doesn't seem that SSD owners who reserve it to games notice improvements about these issues, except for loading times only)

7) What's the purpose of "ACP user service" (amdacpusrsvc.exe) ?

and possible frame drops and stuttering in other DX11 games (Bioshock Infinite is another example)...Arma 3, SaintsRowIV etc...

in conclusion, what's the real cause source of this?
So, DX11 is that bad in some circumstances, and the defect is insurmountable? bad multithreading? bad Vram management? bad optimizations from the games developers who should do more and better testing/debugging?

that said, most of the time the animations of the game scene are enjoyable, but I think that these flaws ruin the global experience.

if i spend a certain amount of money and at 1080p can't maintain a steady min 60fps is a problem... 'cause the drop is really noticeable if it goes low too much...that is, maybe not from 60 to 55 but yes for sure from 60 to 45-35 and those weird stalls/freezes of the scene...

so mine is not a criticism, but really something constructive to understand together where the problem lies

many thanks

Hello 7stars,

1) Is not a driver issue or a porting issue; if it's happening on both hardware setups, the it's probably an engine issue
2) To be completely honest with you, I don't know, I'm sorry. I'm guessing is probably due to the total number of objects being rendered at any one time, or caused by executing multiple functions calls.
3) I haven't played TR in a while redface.gif that being said, this could be explained by the open areas having more details to render. Similar to 2), and in general, the higher the number of objects (3D models) in an area or level, the higher the impact on processing/rendering, hence the result in frame rates.
4) Please make sure to report this issue by using the Issue Reporting Form (and thank you for reporting it), here is the link: http://www.amdsurveys.com/se.ashx?s=5A1E27D25AD12B5A
5) This is a question for Epic - unless some here at OCN knows...wink.gif
6) Overall, HDDs could be problematic for regular gameplay, not just load times. Personally, I install and run all my games from my SSD.
7) It's for our TrueAudio Technology (TrueAudio is codenamed "ACP" and it runs a background service that helps manage audio tasks in games.

I hope the above helps you

Hi guys,

This type of issue can be caused by both hardware and software conflicts. Have you tried using a different browser, say Firefox instead of IE (or vice versa)? Also, after trying a different browser, can you replicate the problem using the same browser? And finally, does this happen only when running YouTube?
It's important to note that recently YouTube now uses the HTML5 player by default in Chrome and that they started rolling out VP9 formatted videos.

You can see if you're running HTML5 via right-clicking on the video and the bottom menu option will either says Adobe Flash or HTML5 Player. You can also check if you're running VP9 via selecting "Stats for nerds" via the same right-click menu.

Quick question - I know I'm way late and probably re-asking a question asked dozens of times already but...

Are the official WHQL drivers identical to the leaked 14.4 drivers slated towards the 295x2 that came out over a month ago?

Yup! They are the same.

FYI, it was leaked around the same time we submitted our driver to Microsoft for certification.

thank you for your answers...
i still think that devs don't test their products enough... 'cause with a graphic card like this shouldn't happen...(above all at 1080p)
by now it's clear to me that DX11 has some limitations in the number of objects/units on the screen at the same time (as Star Swarm Stress Test from Oxide Games shows...)
so hope that Mantle/DX12 and better testing/optimization from devs could solve such a limitation or having better control...but while the first are more likely, sincerely doubt about the fairness of some devs...

how do they test their games? it's a mystery... it's magic biggrin.gif I would never release a product that has some flaws, even if minor ...
if i know that e.g. ATM the high-end cards are 290/780... i would develop something whereby i'm SURE that there isn't some lack of playability...OTHERWISE IMHO it's NOT a good product wink.gif
I don't think they can sell something just because they think that stylistically is mighty, the level design is pleasant... it's not enough, 'cause the player inside that level design must also interact...not only look at the texture or the 3D model (honestly in some games are not even so beautiful...) gaming doesn't only mean to put something on the screen to enjoy your eyes... biggrin.gif
my advice is to stay closer to developers and collaborate, seems that Mantle goes to that direction...and is appreciable, and above all to suggest devs to release something WHEN IT'S DONE

i hope that something like the BF4 CTE will become usual and NOT an exception... really can't do such a thing after 6 months since the "final" release, 'cause that's a tease for paying customer...
the customers have to pay for the final product, not for a beta...
AND also they did a useless open beta for 14 days... the open beta is a great idea, but they have to take their time... just 14 days are pointless

all the best

Oh, don't get me started on the NSA "thing" LOL

(I don't have any information about TF, WL and WD I can share with you at the moment - but from my personal point of view, well, I agree with you 100% smile.gif
