As bitcoin becomes more mainstream, it becomes an issue of how to fix consumer privacy.
The problem may be even bigger for companies. Legitimate businesses, for instance, may want to hide their transactions so that competitors can’t track their sales growth.

Here are a few of the projects seeking a more private way to bitcoin:

I see NEM isn't listed. That intrigued me enough to become a stakeholder during the IPO, and out of everything interests me the most so far.

NEM's transaction aren't anonymous in the blockchain, it just supports routing through I2P (as other coins do too).

I'm NEM stakeholder too for other reasons though.

Darkcoin seems to me as the best solution so far. Decentralised and trust-less.

Zerocoin next on the list but... it's still not there and the blokchain bloat is a big downside.

Yeah, which is a shame. Still, i'm pretty certain the devs have said there are features yet to be made public, hence my interest.

Darkcoin is good but i've moved on from the PoW scene.

I'm not surprised, most of the PoW is ridiculous now.
Darkcoin is different from most though, it's just ~ 5700 new coins daily vs. 4200000 on the market which means the inflation is quite low comparing to other PoW - not a lot of BTC is required to swallow minted coins.

I also think the idea of Masternodes is great - essentially PoS by providing a service (10% mining reward) - if you have 1000 coins in the wallet (you keep the 1000).

On another hand PoS is getting pretty bad too, there's a ton of coins now, 99% offering nothing, except for being non-mine able.
Which essentially means they just have trading value, and as usual, big players manipulating market are making money with most people being left with worthless bags of coins.

Bitcoin, Darkcoin, NEM and maybe few others (Doge - meme, Litecoin - first scrypt but nothing more) are worth anything in my opinion, when the dust settles, rest will slowly die.

Yup, exactly my stance. The last thing i mined was Protoshares back in it's infancy (Which was around the same time Doge appeared) it was decision i didn't regret but nonethless, felt that after Doge, there wasn't much left PoW had to offer. Darkcoin is an exception.

The NEM team would be wise to pay attention to the features these more anonymous coins offer. It certainly would be a first in the PoS world -- at least to my knowledge.
