Every mic I've had from Logitech with those kinds of stands has always managed to topple over a bunch of times, and the stand would wear out to the point where at anything but straight up, it'd fall to the table.

Dunno if I'd recommend that.

+1 for the blue snowball. I've had mine a little over a year now and it's working great

I ordered the snowball pretty much because of what i read about the quality of the stand. Apparently the ICE's stand is crap. Although I baby the hell out of my hardware and gear my brother and dad do use my computer occasionally and don't give it the respect it deserves.

Please return it ASAP. Desk mics aren't your friend.

It's definitely worth the extra $15. Congrats on your purchase!

It can be mounted to be a floating mic as well, but that costs a lot of moolah.

I hope you aren't implying that headsets are better. Any person who has any slight interest in getting decent audio equipment always break away from the headset trend. An entry-level mic such as the Snowball and a $100 pair of headphones would last a person for many years (as mine have) and they also get much more superior audio in/out compared to almost any headset user.

I have the Snowball ICE. I don't think you'll regret it. Maybe even pick up a pop filter if it sounds like you need it.

The Snowball is a good choice for your usage, I wouldn't worry about having it float unless your desk gets a lot of thumps/hits to it to be picked up with the mic.

I use the Yeti myself and haven't had any complaints for the price compared to more expensive cardioid microphones I've used in my school's studios.

Heck, you could be well off using a Samson Go Mic too and that'd be very easy to 'disconnect' from the desk and easy to store.

Depending on your distance from the mic in use you may not need a pop filter but it's always good to have one.
