You can with FPT. Unless you have some other reason?
FPT is done in the DOS environment, Qflash or @BIOS won't work to back up to some earlier BIOS versions.

Download is linked from TT Gigabyte forum per Stasio. Instructions included.

Gigabyte say, once you update to f7, "This BIOS prohibits updating to earlier version BIOS"

with FPT can do it?
is safe?

I stopped upgrading once I got to F5. Honestly don't see a real reason to go on unless you guys suggest it.

EDIT: Actually, it's nothing of a big deal, you can try it yourself. Open HWiNFO64 and use your computer normally. Give it some load, like running the x264 for a few minutes, like ten. Afterwards observe which values, like temperature and voltage values or others, as well, remain static. Meaning they do not change at all. These values are erratic and you must remove them. Erratic values are also the absurd values like temperatures of 100C or something and absurd voltages. Those you must Hide, as well. Right-click on the value and select Hide. Besides these, you can then Hide any other value you consider insignificant. My opinion is that you should monitor all the CPU voltages, amperage and wattage.

Regarding the TIM, I recommend: Noctua NT-H1, Prolimatech PK-3, Gelid GC-Extreme. Nothing else. Unless....you'd like to go for the best...

Regarding the rheobus - which is a fan controller. My personal and subjective opinion: I always prefer to control my CPU cooler from my motherboard! Always! As you can see in my sig_rig I have an Aquaero 5LT. My CPU cooler though is always controlled by my motherboard and it will never be controlled by a fan controller. Give it a thought.

Ok for Noctua then, it is just I saw people on this forum using Artic MX4 so i though itwould be good. But Noctua is a good brand too.

So I manage to put all my chassis fan to full speed and let my cpu fan to automatic PWM to see how it will behave.

- Default Bios with XMP and 3 chassis fan to full speed :
* IDLE :

* x264 16T and removing static value in HWiNFO64 :

Tell me what you think about it.

All the thermal compounds I have recommend you are TOP! You can Google-search yourself for various tests/reviews and you will see them reaching the top places of the test. What do I think about your temps during stress testing? Please, order a tube of your favorite TIM right now!

Have a look at this: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Today's O/C attempt to establish my 4.9 GHz overclock. Successful!!

Ambient temperature = 22C
TIM used: the pre-applied, factory TIM of the Corsair H110

It's true that I use an AIO, which is only three weeks old, and it's true that we have different fan setups and cases. Can this though really justify that we have nearly the same Max Core temp under the x264 test when you're running it under Optimized Defaults and I am running it at 4.9 GHz + 1.390V Adaptive VCore, in the BIOS?! No way! It cannot! That's why I'm telling you: order a tube of TIM right now!

And before running any stress tests set your CPU fans at their full speed.

Good Luck! smile.gifthumb.gif

PS: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
It is pretty clear from the screenshot but I will mention it:
Vccin = 1.55
VCore = 1.390V Adaptive, resulting in a max of 1.424V
1.55 - 1.424 = 0.126V or, if you wish 1.55 - 1.408 = 0.142V ...

I've done it several times. But if you have any worries then don't do it...no one can be there to help you if you get confused and freak out.

Hi smile.gif

Hello ,

I just bought a intel i5-4570 , now i need help to choose A) The MoBo and B) the Memory,
So,

I'll start from B) im thinking to buy :
Kingston HyperX Savage 8GB DDR3-2133MHz (HX321C11SR/8) Link - specs
or
Kingston HyperX Savage 8GB DDR3-2400MHz (HX324C11SR/8) Link - specs
or even
Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR3-2666MHz (CMK8GX4M1A2666C16) Link specs

the difference is only 6 euros ... from which ill get the best performance ?

and now the big Dilemma

A) what motherboard to choose ... i was thinking for :
Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3 (rev. 1.1) Link Specs about 96 euros but not easy to find
or
GA-Z97-D3H (rev. 1.0) Link - Specs about 122 euros ( i'm on the limit here )

cannot find the power phase ? how many they have ?

Alternative

Asus Z97-E Link - specs about 108 euros
or
Asrock Z97 Anniversary Link - Specs about 83 euros

Is it worth it the deference ? shall i pay the extra 30 euros το get the M.2 ?

If later on , i change the CPU with a "K" version , am i ok to overclock with one of that motherboards ?

Rather than try and answer your questions, I'll point you to some sources I found that allowed me to answer similar questions when I was shopping for MoBo and Memory.

Z97 VRM info: http://www.overclock.net/t/1490142/z97-vrm-info

Haswell Memory: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7364/memory-scaling-on-haswell

M.2: Yes you want it, but you want to make sure it is the fastest flavor of .M.2

Read this for some more info http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/02/understanding-m-2-the-interface-that-will-speed-up-your-next-ssd/

Finally a good Z97 Motherboard will overclock K version haswell/Devil's canyon processors.

best of luck
