Well I just had bought a MSI BIG BANG MARSHALL for my system expecting to have more stability, reliability and overclock capabilities compared to my actual board (P8Z68 Deluxe/gen3)

The problems are the following:

-I cant get to put my ram to work at 1600mhz , they are GSkill Ripjaws X 1600 CL9 modules, the frecuency menu doesnt allow me to put them higher than 1333

The bios always shows 0 mhz as my effective BCLK frecuency measure like: 34x0Mhz = 0.0Ghz, but in the OS CPUz shows the real frecuency No problem.

-I cant raise the CPU multiplier ratio to something more than 38, the bios doesnt allow me. ( I have a Sandy 2600K that makes no problem 5 Ghz in the previous board)

-When I set the Multi-Bios switch to disabled the Motherboard wont even post It starts and shuts off in 2 secs all the time.

The bios is the 3.1 version which allows Ivy compatibility I dunno if this could be the problem. Though I have 0 experiencie with MSI Bios but this cant be soo hard, and I think this mobo is made for OC.

So if someone wants to help me I would be very thankful.

If i remember correctly that could be the issue just because of the ME firmware compatibility, you should get support from the official msi forums there are a lot of active handy users there. It may be tricky to downgrade Bios from Ivy to Sandybridge so make sure i have got all the info you can get.

Yes that looks like a problem with the ME firmware. Whoever did the update to 3.1 probably did not update the ME firmware with it.

If your problems don't go away with a matching 3.1 + ME i would also advice you to downgrade. I never had any of those problems with earlier BIOS versions and the boards would allow me to oc my 2500K @ 5Ghz / 2600K @ 4.9Ghz with minimal effort..

Hi guys, thx for the help, I just saw in the BIOS that in ME firmware info shows N/A so, I havent any firmware of the ME and the previous owner flashed it to bios 3.1?

Also would be better to use an Ivy bridge for doing the downgrade right?

I see that in the MSI webpage only v3.0 of the Big Bang bios is avaliable, this one should do the job? or I could need an older version like 1.5?

Thanks
