Does anyone know why there are no Windows 10 drivers for the Z97-WS board yet?

As the Maximus VII Impact is now being reported as EOL from many retailers, will there be a Z97 LGA1150 replacement for it in the ROG range? Or will it be buy it if you can....?

I have a bunch of fan questions, here goes:

I have the Z97 WS motherboard. In the manual on 1-29 it talks about a jumper to choose between 3 and 4 pin fans. However in the bios there is a toggle for selecting PWM or DC control mode. So what the heck does this jumper do?

I also noticed the pin outs for the fan headers on page 1-32 appear to be a mix of PWM and DC. Specifically CPU, CPU_OPT and CHA_FAN2 are setup for PWM while CHA_FAN's 1,3 and 4 look to be DC. Does the jumper on the mother board change fans 1,3 and 4 to PWM?

If the jumper is not switched to PWM, but the bios is selected for PWM, is it actually using PWM to control?

Will the bios and Fan Expert in Windows conflict and fight each other? Or do I have to disable the bios qfan in order to use Fan Expert in windows?

Why is fan stop disabled sometimes?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I've sent it two requests to ASUS support about the lack of Windows 10 drivers for Z97-WS. It is the only ASUS Z97 motherboard without Windows 10 drivers published. I sent in one request about 2 months ago and I sent in the second request about 2 weeks ago. I was told 2 weeks ago that the drivers will be published in the next couple of weeks. It has been about 2.5 weeks and the drivers are still not published.

what drivers are you looking for?

almost all of the hardware drivers can be found at the appropriate OEM sites.

all asus does is gather them up in one place.

So far on every system that I've installed Windows 10 the drivers that Windows installed were at least the same driver that I could get from the OEM. I'm running 2 systems now with Asus motherboards one an AMD and the other a Z97 and both are running perfect using nothing but the Windows installed chipset drivers. The only drivers that I installed something else for are the graphics drivers because I always get those from Nvidia. In fact on my 990FX system it's more stable now then it ever was before in Win 7 or 8 using the drivers from the Asus support site.

I figure if it ain't broke, I'm not going to try and screw it up biggrin.gif

So if I go with Windows 10 drivers, I do get some not ideal behaviors:
1) boot time is slower
2) login time is slower
3) sound card driver has some crackles

If I load the ASUS Win 8.1 64bit drivers all is well. At least until Windows 10 patches again. And then it seems to replace the "older" ASUS drivers with Windows 10 default, probably due to version numbers, and then I am back to the bad behavior I listed. So it seems to me that if we had the real drivers the version numbers would be upgraded and Windows 10 updates would not replace.

Again this is for ASUS Z97-WS motherboard, which seems to be the only ASUS Z97 with out published Windows 10 drivers.
again, go to the OEM sites for the on-board hardware and get the latest/win10 drivers.

look in device manager to see wich ones you need

your board uses the following OEMs:

intel (chipset, VGA, USB, SATA, NIC)

Realtec (sound)

ASMedia (USB, SATA)

There are no Asus "drivers" other than the BIOS which is a firmware, not a driver.

right click on the nic device and uninstall.

resinstall nic drivers.
This didn't change anything, and there was nothing wrong-looking with any of the drivers. I have the bios updated aside from the VGA, as I'm still getting this error message:
