Hi, not sure if it's the ideal thread to ask but I think you guys can answer me :
So long story short, had an awful luck this week about my new build. Got a shiny new EK Predator 360, a Phantek Enthoo Primo with a Gigabyte Z97 SOC and it went pretty bad :
- 1st thing : fans control was completly broken on the Gigabyte and I couldn't control fans, radiator fans were plug on the CPU_FAN and could only ran on low speed, Enthoo Fans were either lowest speed or full speed.
- 2nd thing : yesterday, the Gigabyte died, no sign of life, can't start it (even with the onboard button). PSU was tested (with a wire linking green to black on the 24 pins and also on an other mb) and it works.

So yeah I'm looking for a new motherboard with good fans controls. I previously had a Z97M-Plus that I gave to my sister for her mATX build which had good fan control but at the time I didn't had all these fans to control so I don't really know how it would have handle this build.
Can the Maximus VII Hero manage the EK Predator (plugged on the CPU_FAN) and the Enthoo Primo hub ? I want to control both of them.

Thank you

Get a real fan controller and stop using buggy M/B solutions

Your gains won't be very big, if you really want to overclock I would suggest you get a "K" version of your CPU, or just stick with Intel Turbo boost.

Thank you very much for the info. must wait for next Intel release because I'm not really held back by my CPU in games.

Since the m.2 socket on the board does not support pcie x4 is it ok to get an m.2 to pcie adapter and use the second gpu pcie slot? Is there anything i should know about? Limiting the bandwidth of the gpu slot? Anything i should change is the BIOS? Thanks a lot in advance.
doesn't that mobo have a bios update that supports NVME. I have the cheaper version the z97-a and it supports 10 gb/s and i think that that bandwidth with the sataexpress 1

It does indeed have an NVME section in the BIOS. Does that mean i can use a 950 pro in the M.2 slot and it will run at full speed? Or is just compatible with NVME drives in the M.2 slot with the available bandwidth ie pciex2? Am so confused if anyone can help! Greatly appreciated.

If i get a pcie to m2 adapter and running on the second pcie slot will it limit my bandwidth and affect performance for my titan x? Thanks a lot.

I have the Z97M-plus and the m.2 slot only supports SATA III drives. Don't know about using an add-in PCIE card.
