the cpu and gpu are on the same die like haswell igpu or a 7850k, but they are still separate things and npt comparable. also, it's 18 compute units, each made up of 64 GCN cores.

i'm not a big fan either. less a fan of the mystique attached to them, but they are good games, even if they aren't my cup of tea. I feel they are quite overrated, but good none the less.

It does seem that consoles have better developers for narrative based games that are heavy on plot and character development. I posted this a while ago actually. When your studio has the financial backing and support of Microsoft or Sony, then you can put so much more into your game. The Last of Us could not have been as good if it were done by a multi-platform developer IMO. Yes, there are some like Bethesda and 2K that make great narrative based games, but those are not as common.

running 1080p @ 60fps is nothing if your graphics look like....

Some of you guys keep looking at these near meaningless metrics. It'd be like judging the length of games based on their installation files.....frames per second, sure, but as Ryse displayed, the sub 1080p resolutions can look darn good if each pixel is treated well. Heck, Forza 5 and NFS's 1080p didn't make those games look any better. I'd rather some AA or some AF to be applied to those games more than anything!

didn't optimize? Forza is 1080p at a rock solid 60fps. The thing is, to hit that target, it needs to have a stale environment. Lower textured audiences. Paired back grass textures. Less smoke effects.

Hence Ubisoft's decision to drop the resolution.

Just because it has the same framerate and pretty much the same resolution as Gran Turismo 6 does not mean it is optimized. Mainly due to the fact that it looks worse than Gran Turismo 6, something that runs on hardware 1/4th the power of the XBO.
As for what I made bold. That is only if the developer is lazy. 1080p 60FPS can be hit and have photo-realism with ease at least on the PS4.

What does optimization have to do with the game not looking better? Optimization is to squeeze more performance out of it.

These machines have just come out and some of the titles are being held back by the previous gen systems, look how long t took for the PS3 to have visuals of The Last Of Us, 7 years or so after the release of the system and even then there's things like foliage and vegetation which doesn't look so great.

What looks worse than GT6, please dont tell me you're referring to Forza 5.

Photo-realism? Bit_Reaper already went over this and so have many other people in this thread.
