Need help setting up my HTPC.

hi every one,
I normally use my PS3 as a media center in fact thats all I use it for.
But lately there are less and less movies and tv shows that will play through it. So I'am looking to use my main rig as my HTPC. I have been useing XBMC for a few weeks now and I like it alot. So my main Question to you all is, Can I use Google Chromecast to broadcast through XBMC or straight from my desktop. Almost all of my media is 720p Or higher and the Tv That I will be sending it to is a Tosibia 40 in 1080p.

Yes I have searched the forums but I cant find anything, so any help would be great.

You could buy a Roku and install Plex on both the desktop and the Roku itself and stream your media that way. I used it for my kids before I went and made them a cheap HTPC.

Well you could always pick up a cheap Dell small form factor core 2 duo from like craigslist, slap in a cheap low profile hdmi card and install Windows 7. Add the computer to the homegroup and stream the media that way (you would have to right click the drives to set up sharing). Thats what I do at home with my 2 4bay storage drives at home and use Plex and Subsonic when Im away.
