How do I run three LCDs with one R9 270?

Just bought a third screen and a R9 270 (5870 was having issues) and I'm trying to figure out how to run three screens. All the screens only have DVI, some have VGA, none of them have HDMI. They're all 22" 1680x1050 screens.... yes I know, crappy resolution, they're $50 screens and they're good enough rolleyes.gifbiggrin.gifwink.gifthumb.gif

Someday I would like to upgrade to larger, higher resolution screens, so whatever I need to do that I would like to purchase now. I don't think I will be running more than 3 screens anytime soon though.

I'd prefer nothing that needs USB power since I'm using all USB ports

I'd also prefer to purchase on ebay from a US seller

Sounds like none of the screens have display port. You can try the adapter Arakasi suggested, but I believe the R9 270 can do 3x monitors (2x DVI 1x HDMI) and a 4th on display port. So if a HDMI to DVI adapter is laying around or less expensive, this should be another option.

The only question is whether or not you need active as opposed to passive HDMI or Display Port to DVI adaptors. The adapter Arakasi suggested is active, so if you go with something else, make sure it is active rather than passive to stay on the safe side.

they're old screens, no displayport on any of them, but I'd rather have three 1680x1050 screens and only pay $50 (since I already have 2) than three 1920x1080 screens and pay $500+

I'm lucky enough to have a microcenter close by, I'll just pick up a active mini displayport to DVI adapter when the screen arrives.

Will something like these work?

Those are mini displayport to dvi not displayport. I think you want the full size displayport end not the mini.

I just did a quick search on micro centers website and dont seem to see any full size active display port to dvi adapters, only passive. However im on my phone, ill take another look when im on my desktop.

Because different manufacturers sometimes change what display port is on their cards, could you please link what make and model your card is. Web link if possible so we can look for ourselves. This will help us help you make sure you get the proper adapter for your third monitor. thanks!
