Everybody knows about CoD now, and this results in even higher sales. ESO basically fled from the brief spotlight it had once they release the game. They are very quiet, and show no confidence in their product. They are too afraid to be seen as crap franchise that had potential but failed. Look at SWTOR. Now we see it as failure, we don't even care about it anymore. Sony? Sony just had to say it, because they have no other competition. Sony was already a huge success, and beat Microsoft to the core. What have they got to lose by announcing their failure? If they fail, then what's Microsoft? A bigger failure.

Zenimax is screwed. My advice is that you enjoy the free trial and quit.

Why are you the way that you are?

EDIT: I probably shouldn't have egged you on but you were getting on my nerves.

For what its worth, i've been playing it casually with my Dad (big elder scrolls fan) and we've been enjoying it a lot. The questing and exploring is far more developed than most of the recent WoW clones we've played. We haven't reached endgame yet though... that is usually when everything starts to fall apart. In terms of a pre-50 experience though, I've been having a blast.

I played beta for ~25 hours and enjoyed it, but it was very buggy and only a few weeks until release. Since release they have had some major issues which is why I've "waited" to jump on board and spend my time in it.

1) There was a dupe bug, that rendered the economy and many items pointless. I am not sure if they ever fixed the damage it caused.
2) Even in the beta areas, there are still many broken quests and bugs. I've seen and heard stories about higher level zones being much worse, typical reason why MMOs fail.
3) I see far more negative than positive, mainly due to bugs, which means it will probably go F2P with a cash shop.
4) As it is, I expect them to spend a year fixing the current game before really adding anything major... unless they have different teams doing each.
5) They gave out 5 additional days of free time because customers we're unhappy with the launch issues and overall bugginess of the game.

Honestly it's too early to tell, but it's leaning towards F2P. It'll be very successful as F2P, assuming it follows the GW2 cash shop motto. However, as Bethesda stated, F2P with a cosmetic cash shop won't allow them to crank out content as fast. Here's the most recent patch, and look how many quest-breaking bugs it fixes: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/95370/patch-notes-v1-0-8
Yeah.. flop.

Yeah.. flop.

Are you a business insider with some knowledge that the rest of us, including Bethesda and Zenimax, don't have?

I'm really confused on the point of your thread. Originally I thought you were just wanting to know if it was worth buying, but now it seems you made this thread just to claim the game flopped and to tell everyone they are wrong if they disagree with you.

I never claimed the game flopped by the way. I fully enjoyed the game, other than the bugs, and fully intended to give it a shot in a few months. In the worst case I feel it will go F2P and there's a huge F2P market... even though I'm not in it.

The game is quite unoriginal for being under the title of an Elder Scrolls game.
Literally the best explanation of this game is an average game without much going for it at this time.
It may get better, but it will take time.

I agree. When I heard that they were doing an MMO Elder Scrolls game, I ran over my neighbor's mailbox with my car in anger (well I actually did that for another legitimate reason). I think the better way to have done it would have been like Borderlands. You have 3 friends join you and then you can do whatever. MMORPGs tend to get very dull very quick. When I have to kill 50 rabbits for 20 XP then I quit. This was a beginning quest in WoW and I quit the second I saw it.

(sorry Murlocke, didn't want to drag you into this) The truth is that many times a company does not release fiscal records until absolutely necessary in order to gain a leg up on the competition. They do not want their competitors knowing what they are doing. So ZeniMax Media may very well be keeping things a bit of a secret. If Activision-Blizzard found out how well the game was doing, it might make them turn up the power on WoW.

Activision-Blizzard already know how ESO is going. Businesses have spies. They report eVERYTHING to their superiors. Ever heard of business intelligence? That's a field you shouldn't go to, man, just for your sake. Activision-Blizzard don't have the time to worry about ESO. they're too busy spying on GW2. That's the real threat. ESO can't do anything. They're just filled with bugs. It's like beta 2.0.

Also doesn't matter whether they know how much ESO is failing/succeeding right now. WoW is already on their maximum gear, trying to keep up their game.

I guarantee you'll get your proof soon.

Saying that I will get my proof soon is not proof.

EDIT: And why do you even care? Did you buy ESO and then get REALLY MAD mad.gifmad.gifmad.gif that it wasn't the game you wanted?

This is business intelligence. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_intelligence

If you can explain this in your own words then I will give you a cookie.

Who cares what the point of this thread was, if you can't adapt to changes in the thread then that's your problem. You implied the game flopped, man. When a company decides to make it pay to play, but it doesn't go according to the plan because the game flopped in sales, it goes to F2P. Why? Cuz you lose.
