RealTemp 3.70 Calibration

Thread Starter
I recently upgraded to an Intel i5-3570k and also upgraded from an H50 to an XSPC Raystorm 750 EX240 AIO kit.

I'm overclocking and I am up to 4.7GHz. I use RealTemp 3.70 to monitor my core temperatures, but it is reporting some cores a lot different than others. Core #0 is almost always 6-10°C cooler than Core #'s 1-2, and is usually around 5°C cooler than Core #3.

I did the sensor test in RealTemp, but I am not really sure what settings need adjusted to make my core temps more accurate.

Below are screenshots of my RealTemp settings window and Sensor Movement Test/CPU Cool Down Test window.

I was hoping that someone could help me adjust my Idle Calibration and TJMax settings so that my core temps are reported close to the same from idle on up closer to TJMax (my core temps don't get much higher than mid 60's °C).

Have you considered using another utility like HWmonitor to verify the core differences?

And it's not uncommon. I've seen two of the cores on my quad different from the other 2 by 10 degrees only to have them reverse and have the other 2 different by 10 degrees and then other times they all match.

I think thats pretty normal, it wasn't doing it before with the H50?

I'm using Realtemp, Hwinfo and I have used Hardware monitor, and they all report similar temps. I gathered it was to do with the IHS mounting on the die.

My core 0 and 3 are almost always cooler then 1 and 2. Under a heavy load (Folding) they peak around the same though, maybe 4 c difference. Idle 0 can be 23 and 1 and 2 30-31 with 3 somewhere in the middle. This has been the same changing from an Arctic I30 to Cryorig R1 and multiple mounts of the i30.

Yes, I had the differences when I had the H50. Do you think it is the way the IHS is mounted or is it a sensor thing? I was thinking that the TJMax might be different between the cores and that a simple adjustment to the settings might make the reported temperatures more accurate.

I haven't looked into calibrating the sensors myself, I just remember reading about people with the same issue back when I first got my 3570k and that was the answer given back then.

So yes I thought its the mounting and I never thought any more of it to be honest.

As I said in my case the difference under heavy load such as Prime/IBT is much less then minum idle temps. I would love them all to be the same as my lowest core, I might be tempted to push my dog of a 3570k to 4.5ghz 24/7 if I could lower my max core stress testing temp by 5 degrees.

I could be wrong and I await with interest to see if someone can help you and if it changes anything, sorry I'm not really helping with that tongue.gifsmile.gif
