Hello! Thanks for checking it out!

This is the first build log I have done. I have built many systems just never created a build log, so here's my attempt at one.

Please excuse my writing skills.. lol I'm much craftier with the sword than the pen.

"Toxic Overkill"
I am going with the name Toxic Overkill because of the green and blue theme of the build. UV, and Blue.
I will be putting it in a Corsair 900D, effing BEAST of a case!! Def the largest i've done so far.
so far i have 4 rads installed. 3 Alphacool rads(2)480, (1) 120. The last radiator is a Black Ice 240rad.
i am contemplating a third rad in the front, i have an extra 240 and 360 rads laying around.
Dual D5 pumps, Bitzpower dual serial Mod top. i will either use my existing Lamptron CW611 or getting a new aquacomputer Aquaero6
oh yah.. and i'm going to do acrylic tubing biggrin.gif

I apologize for crappy pics.. this is off of my iphone, i will be using a much nicer camera once it's unpacked... doh.gif

Ok so first update.. i finally got a build area setup after the new move.

a little rough, but it'll work for now to get started =)

i am experimenting with polishing all of my acrylic pieces. i've done a couple of misc ek bridges and a pump top. Unfortunately i couldnt find my dremel polishing bit, so i was forced to do this by hand.. not a big deal and took virtually no time. AGAIN these aren't finished just a quick sneak peak =)

Here's what im using

SO i kept the small EK sli bridge the way it was for comparison..
The taller sli bridge just had a quick once over by hand. 3-4 mins?
the pump i have done about 3/4 of it.

oh yah.. i havent used ANY sandpapers.. i just went straight to polish. i really dont want to be messing with the O-ring mounting spots with sand paper. i possibly might use it on the front sides, but so far so good!! =)

Well thats all for now! More updates coming!!

one last thing.. how do you guys prefer updates? regularly? or as it happens.. ? =) thanks guys!!

Constructive Criticism is ALwAYS welcome.. =) just dont be a d!ck =) biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifthumb.gifthumb.gif

I really like the look of the polished blocks! I used a 2500 grit before the polish personally, but yours don't look too different from mine.
As far as updates go, I personally like them whenever there are new pictures.

The only other things I would add as far as suggestions are:
1) A table of contents with links to the update posts. Builds without them are a nightmare to click through after the fact and it makes it feel super professional.

2) Consistent formatting. Adding something to the top your update posts helps them stand out. Also play around with bolding things like the parts in your parts in your parts list. It helps make it more readable.

3) Avoid making posts too long. This goes along with frequency of updates, but try to keep your posts from getting super long. If you find your self wanting to add a butt-ton of images, group them together inside spoiler tags so it doesn't take forever to scroll through. I pretty much did my entire first build log in one post and that didn't turn out great rolleyes.gif

Here's my second one if you want check it out biggrin.gif It's no where near some of the other ones on OCN, but I'm proud of it so far and I try to keep it up to date and easy to read. http://www.overclock.net/t/1469157/build-log-blue-jay-watercooled-prodigy

EDIT: Oh, also SUBBED thumb.gif

UPDATE 5/17/14

So today i mounted the fans rads and motherboard. I had to disassemble my last build "Vader." I'm re-using my MB, CPU, RAM, and PSU.
That build never quite got finished because it took so long to get sheet metal work done. So long infact, that i said "f**k it" and got a 900D.
It's the size of one of those Amish Fireplaces.. Truly Epic. One day i'll get a caselabs rolleyes.gif

Ok Enough chat! Here are some pics of my handy work today

Waterblock Polishing

Before

After

Rads and Fans

Tomorrow I will try to figure out order of components and have a leak test running. All soft tube for now.
I will also decide if i'm going to use another 240rad in the front and a 120rad as an exhaust.
i think thats it for now!

thumb.gifbiggrin.gifThanks for looking! biggrin.gifthumb.gif
