[GS] More Games Released on Steam in Four Months of 2014 than All of 2013 - Page 3

It shouldn't happen like that, almost everyone will ignore all the unknown indie games anyway, unless they are actually good and get some press or video coverage. As long as they don't choke up the search/filter options it doesn't matter if they are added to Steam or anywhere else.

If we don't get primarily excellent games we'll be in for another game crash of '83.

I play indie games and a few AAA titles. The "AAA" titles are becoming increasingly crap, and when you add a sea of casual games and ported phone games, it becomes a mess. Not all indie games are good either.

I want stricter standards, anything to weed out the bad games.

That or a new hobby. biggrin.gif

Companies are actually re-releasing old ass games on Steam as "new" titles. So honestly, this is bad news. Not that its gonna make Steam a terrible platform, but its just going to make the store more cluttered than it already is. Here is hoping for the best though...

As long as Steam adapts the increase in content by providing better search functionality and relevant lists based on your own games list it will be fine.
I'm fine if Steam wants to fill itself with bloated content as long as it lets me sail through it all cleanly.

it's not gonna be like that at all

steam might work a way to let good games through and leave bad games out

And of those steam games... 99% were alpha (or should be alpha).

More apparent, do you feel like your choices are limited on Steam currently? Outside of console exclusives, or Origin/Uplay specific titles and the like, are there any games that you feel like you're missing out on?

Or maybe there will be 20 different kinds of tomatoes, 20 different kinds of greens, 20 different kids of onions, etc. Choice is choice and it let's you get what you want.

I personally don't see any issue with this sort of competition. Sure it opens the floodgate for a bunch of junk, but odds are there will be one jem in X amount of releases and having a platform to distribute on like Steam means a lot for the developer of that title.

Yeah I hear that, I still have a stack of those horrible end of life Atari games that make ET look awesome. Ghostbusters being one of my faves (it was actually a game about a chicken running through a maze) biggrin.gif

It's honestly the way it should be. Let the community decide whats good and what isn't good, and not rely on big brother to do that for you.

It helps developers that the community feels like will show promise and helps get decent games off the ground. Especially the ones that listen to the community in what to add.

So they are going from Netflix type to more of a YouTube type content service.

That's fine by me. Yes there is a lot of utter crap on both (OK, fine, more on YouTube), but I can easily find things I'm actually interested in on either too.
