They are smarter then intel in a sence they know how to lure in the customer, iam sorry but intel for me is a big no no.I dont even wanna mention how often they change chipsets, seems like weekly now comared to amd,iam sorry intel but i cant afford to change my rig every month!

I think that's an understatement. I remember when 1366 Extreme CPUs were still the same price even after 2 new generations were released after them. tongue.gif I don't think Intel CPUs really drop in price for MSRP until a long time after they're released. Best thing you can do is look for the really good deals. Mostly Newegg or Amazon gets the good deals now vs the in-store people, but sometimes MicroCenter still gets those insane deals when you bundle a CPU+Mobo. smile.gif

The only case where brand loyalty should matter is when considering things like return policy, honoring warranties/rebates, etc.

If you're just supporting AMD because you like the letters, the logo, the colors, etc., then clearly that's stupid.

Thats why I like Amd more!.....Everyone like cheering for the underdog anyway.look how long Am3+ lasted 3 or 4 years? How many chipsets has intel went through since then? But youll probbly say noone is forcing you to upgrade right? Well no but we all like to believe our systems are decent and like to stay on top of things by having good hardware, you cant do this with intel like you can with Amd, I hope they get there act together and stomp intel into the ground!.....Have you guys heard about the lawsuit against intel btw?they are being sued for false benchmarks, tweaking them to make it seem like your getting better performance when in reality god knows whats really going on! I cannot support a company like that sorry iam very much on Amd's side.

AMD was FORCED to drop their prices so drastically because the performance and power consumption numbers were that bad. The prices were left high for a short time to net all the mindless fanboys before they tried to sell it to people who looked at the market as a whole They dropped the prices to a more appealing number because if they left them at their stupidly high release prices they would sell almost zero chips.

Don't be easily fooled. AMD is not your friend, they don't care about you or know you even exist, they aren't going to lower prices for you to save a few bucks. If the performance was there the higher price would be there too.

Sounds like this might turn into an AMD/Intel fight so we should probably just stop it at that. tongue.gif

Anyway, to avoid any problems, I'm out of this conversation.

Not just AMD though, nVidia, Intel, etc... they're all not our friend. All they care about is milking our hard earn money, so I would buy hardware carefully and never buy based on brand/blind loyalty or out of pity for some called 'underdog' company.

The way I see it is brand loyalty is a bit of a catch 22. How do devs make better products if people dont buy the "not better" products?

That being said how can they expect us to fork over hundreds of dollars for inferior products?

My conclusion is that Brand loyalty is important but a crap product is a crap product as is a over inflated price...so I guess the better approach would be support the product, not the brand unless you REALLY like the brand in the same way I REALLY like EVGA.

To that end I buy products from different brands for different purposes.

I typically go with a AMD CPU+water cooling because its vastly cheaper to some massively overpriced intel chip.

I buy nvidia cards because theyre more reliable than a AMD card.

No I agree completly,I relize Amd dosent a crap about me or its custmoers but let me just ask you this, how do you know that intel cpu your buying is actually what it says on the box? You would rather pay more for a company that lies and cheats on benchmark scores?how do you know that any of the benchmarks we currently use like whats its called cinbench wasnt made by intel to make it look like your actually getting a better score? They did it before I can find you the lawsuit article if ud like? Look all iam trying to say is for all we know they could all be taking us for a ride, dont buy into the hype so easily.I didnt create this thread to start a war, that wasnt my intention guys........Amd and Intel are both giants, iam just a guy who works 9 to 5 with or without me amd and intel are in the same situation.

Brand loyalty is important. Without it, we would see so many good companies go belly up before getting back into the game and becoming a big player again. If we all only bought Intel right now because they are making a "superior CPU" then AMD would continue to crash and burn. Those who are loyal, help keep at least some form of cash revenue alive and give AMD another chance to pump out the next big thing.

Of course, major companies like Intel and AMD have quite a bit of cash on hand but it has happened in the past.

All of that being said, at the same time brand loyalty is dumb because then a company can just sit on top without improving. It's a balancing act if anything.

I read an article in maximum pc yesterday, I was reading about the Amd 7850k kalveri or whatever its called, they were testing the dual graphics theory. So in a nut shell according to the review Kaveri is Not ready for 1080p gaming even with dual graphics enabled! That kinda pisses me off. They made the xbox one and ps4 with similar technology like that apu and they could game at 1080p yet we cant even with dual graphics twice the amount of horsepower! Something is seriously going on like i said,I think they are milking the crap out of the market, both sides!
